About 2 years ago, I noticed a bald spot on the front of my scalp. Little did I know, this would be a life changing moment. I am Italian in ethnicity so naturally I was quite the hairy man. Once my bald spot started growing, I decided to get it checked out. I found that I had Alopecia Areata. That soon turned into totalis, which then turned to universalis. Once losing all of my hair, I was a little shocked to see it just fall out in the shower, but upon further experience, I realized how much easier it is being bald. Sure, I occasionally wish I could have my great beard back, but the fact that I only need a bar of soap in the shower outweighs the beard. Being extremely hairy, to having no hair at all has been quite the change, but this change is not a negative one. I feel completely anonymous, and I actually love it. Not having to say hello to people you do not want to talk to is quite awesome. I have to say being bald has been awesome to me. I found if you can get over the fact that you look completely different, then your battle has been won. I really appreciate the people I have read about on this site and am looking forward to being welcomed into our "elite" group of awesome baldness. Remember, we save a lot of money on shampoo and razors!! Bald is beautiful. Let that head shine just as bright as our personalities!

Love your attitude. Being a man with 100% AU I know where u are coming from. I don't have to shave or wash my hair for the last 3 years. I fit in society pretty well.....I don't have circles on my head anymore....I felt pretty strange then. I do have tattooed eyebrows and no lashes....I will sometimes get second looks.....I just ignore them.
I always felt that Being a man with this disease is easier. I feel really bad for the kids and women.....society is really hard on them. Anyway...take care.....maybe we will get our hair back one day.
