I stand up straight and proud

I feel elegant and unique

I'm cool when other people are hot

I rock my large collection of earrings

Thanks Mary. I've recently shaved my hair, but am still wearing a wig. I also have been contemplating going publicly bald and I hope to be brave enough to do it on the 4th:).

Hi Themba - glad to hear you shaved - I sure felt better physically and emotionally when I did. I felt in control again. As I've often written before on AW, going out bald for me required BABY STEPS, all noted in my diary: first time to the mailbox, first time to the library, first time to the store....pretty soon I stopped keeping track because it just became normal for me. You can send me a photo on International Alopecia Day with or without a wig - but good luck! ( ;-)

Right! That's one of the main ideas behind International Alopecia Day - if there were more bald women "out" in public, the questioning looks would be fewer.

Thanks ladies for your encouragement, I am truly blessed to have come across AW; I will keep you posted:). And Mary, you are right, the more bald women out there, the fewer the weird looks will be. And I think it will also be an encouragement to more women to embrace the bald look.
