This jerk's only complaint about the show was:
"It might have been better if the coaches, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton had seen that two of the women, Frenchie Davis a former American Idol contestant and Beverly McClellan a 41 year old singer were both bald.

If they both had cancer and were undergoing chemotherapy, I could understand them singing bald. I can’t imagine either of them going very far, because their bald look to me was very distracting."

There is a poll on the page asking: "Are you entertained by singing baldheaded ladies?" Right now the votes are 50/50. Go and vote yes!

Let's write and tell him what we think, or at least vote in his poll.

Mary, I tried to blast this a-hole but his comments are "locked"; I guess he got "blasted" by a lot of people. What a jerk. The problem persists predominantly in an industry based on "appearance" and not true talent. Since losing my hair most of my fan base thought I shaved my head on "purpose" to have a "new look". I set them all straight. Whether bald by choice or not, I still have a "voice" and deserve to be heard. The same for the rest of us.

Yes, I discovered that, too. Frustrating when people want to dish it out but refuse to take comments.

Part of my point in posting this blog was to observe that there DOES seem to be a genuine shift in the music industry toward the bald look for women being "in". This is good news for those of us who are tired of being "oddities" as bald women. The bald look for guys became fashionable when more actors adopted it. Who knows...this may have the same effect eventually.

Good for you for setting your fans straight. You're doing a lot for all of us (and you look fabulous!)

It will be interesting to see as this TV show progresses whether the "coaches" discuss the bald/shaven look with their singers.

I just looked at both of your links, and thought about it. Personally, I lobbied to drop piano lessons in lieu of my art (drawing and painting), which my parents began to realize was my true talent AND my own alopecia therapy back in the '60s. That is where I developed any self-esteem and compliments at a high school where popularity was beyond reach for an egghead (academic egghead. I wore wigs.) like me until I became poster, program and scenery chair for school plays and helped create the senior float and art for dances.

For stage performers developing their own true talents and personal therapy, there is no hiding like in the individual studio world of a visual artist. On stage, hot lights, strenuous movements, long duration, every eye on you with all those judgments, publicity photos and reviews....aye-yie-yie. I NEVER could have done that with alopecia! I give y'all credit for even getting up there...I even hide from my students as a teacher, and for YEARS would not stand up in front of groups for speeches. Too bad the audiences members and bloggers watching the two singers above can't just stand up and cheer, and cast extra vote "pro" just for moxie alone!

Hi there! I'm one of those "baldheaded" ladies you find so distracting!

I've read your thoughts and processed - you stated that you can understand if someone doesn't have hair as a result of chemotherapy. I've never had a single chemo treatment but I also didn't shave my head by choice. Does this mean if I were an incredible singer that I should be denied the right to perform? I'm truly hurt and offended that you even have the nerve to complain about something so petty. Does hair really mean that much to you? REALLY?!

What you find to be unattractive or "distracting" as you so kindly put it, others may find to be gorgeous or even (gasp!) inspiring. Maybe you should try to think about WHY those women are "baldheaded" instead of only worrying about your own selfish opinion.

By the way, there are TONS of people with medical issues out there whom you've offended. Honestly, that's the only way I even encountered this filth.

So on that note, best of luck to you and try to be a little more open minded next time.


He's probably deleting them since there was only his lame comment trying to defend himself and someone else letting him know he's a moron and should watch what he says... but It's on there for now!
