Hey everyone, I would really appreciate some advice here.

A few weeks ago I noticed a tiny gap in my eyelashes and I immediately knew that was going to be the start of them, as well as my eyebrows falling out. I have lost almost all of my hair on my head, but I still have some at the back. I haven't had any hairloss from my head in over a month so I am hoping this is a good sign. However, my eyebrows are really starting to thin. I'm not sure if I am going to lose my brows and lashes completely but I want to be prepared, just incase. I have completely come to terms with that fact I have to wear a wig and it doesn't bother me anymore, butI'm not sure how I will react if I don't have eyelashes/brows. I have heard about eyebrow tattoos and other alternatives and I just want to know what you think the best option is. As for eyelashes, there is a salon close to me who apply eyelashes individually. Its just like getting your nails done. You go there and get the set applied and go back every 2 weeks to get them topped up. Has anyone had this done? I was considering stick on, false lashes but I'm not sure I want to get up every morning and apply them and I think I would worry about them falling off. I would also like to know, if anyone has experienced eyelash or brow loss and had them grow back completely or should I wave goodbye to them? My doctor has been no help to me...other than blood tests, I have been given no advice, medication or anything that could posibly help me out, so if anyone could give me any info at all I would be really grateful.

I just had my eye brows tatooed on 3 weeks ago. They do not look like the same thick eye brows I had before, but I like them. I have also lost all my eye lashes.. I draw a black line under and over my eye and most people can't tell I don't have eyelashes unless they look close. Again, I mourn the loss of my beautiful eyelashes, thick eyebrows and of course every single hair on my body...I never even had to color my hair or wear makup before AU, now I do feel like everything is fake, my wigs, eyebrows and eyelashes....But I have acccepted the fact it may never come back...I do this for me as much as the public. I still cannot stand to look at myself without hair, eyelashes and eyebrows. I hope you do get your eye lashes/brows back but if not, I would recommend having them tatooed on. Good Luck.

Hi Sarah,

I've had alopecia for decades. In that time, I've lost every hair, and had most of them regrow, more than once. Before all this, I had very full eyebrows. When they've regrown, their shape's been different & I think the location has been too. Next time they fall out, I would be hesitant to get tattooed in case the brows regrew in a way that conflicted with the tattoo. Many years ago I bought false eyelashes because I kept getting things in my eyes, plus I thought they'd look cute. I spent a loooong time trying to get them on well, & finally gave up. At that time, the salons would only add lashes to your own lashes, so I was out of luck. I got used to it, & fortunately I usually have enough lashes for function.

Hi all, I too have no eyebrows or eyelashes- I find coloring in eyebrows every day very time consuming. I would like to get them tatooed on- any tips or recommendations- questions I should ask the tatoo artist at the salon?

hey sarah how r u doin, i am happy to tell u that i lost my eyebrows and all my lashes apart from the right bottom eye, i was more depressed about that than my hairloss, but i have now got white eyebrows altho i still have to use my eyebrow pencil but they have come in :) an i now have most of my eyelashes bak, my right eye has a little at the side to come in but the left is bak, i feel so excited to have them again so there is hope, never give up, i used brown eyeliner on the bottom and tops of my eye which helped as im very fair skin and felt i looked ill without it, i shaved my head 4wks ago to and my hair is growin again :) white still but about 1cm long, so keepin my fingers x, and i will keep mine x for u aswell, hear from u sn, xx

Hey everyone....thanks for all your responses...I really want to get the eyebrow tattoos but I'm worried they will mess them up and then I am screwed. I haven't tried an eyebrow pencil yet. I'm not in need of it at the minute but they are going and I just want to be prepared. Can anyone tell me how long false strip eyelashes last and also, how to stop the eyebrow pencil from smudging...I have never used one before

Hi Sarah, I get brow powder and sealer from BGDL and it looks very realistic. I told a girlfriend about it and she stared at me up close and still could not tell (I have bald patches plus thinning on my brows). The sealer is key because they won't smudge off and it's matte when it dries. I am tempted to go to my wax specialist to make me a "template" in the event they all go as she is really an artist and knows how the brows are supposed to look based on the face shape. Then I would be able to bring that to a tattoo person. You really want someone who understands facial structure when doing something as permanent as tattooing.

Hey Stephanie, Thanks for your comment. Do you know how I can get some of the powder and sealer? I live in Ireland so I would need to get it shipped here I guess. Do you still have your lashes?
