Day 104 of Chinese Herbal Medicine to treat alopecia due to raw food diet and stress

Just a quick update.

Chinese medicine seems to be still helpful with my hair loss. There is now a steady low amount of hair loss in general. I don't have to vacuum the floor as often and hair loss in the showers, although still collects a ball in the drain, it is nowhere near as much as a month ago.

The general condition of my hair used to dry, brittle, kinked, thick with fine split ends, reddish brown black tinge and generally flyaway. Now, my hair feels shinier, softer and it is easier to comb without getting my comb stuck into knots. I still get split ends on some hairs but I think I still have alopecia hairs yet to fall out. There's signs of new hair growth (I have lots of little hairs at the top of my head now) where previous alopecia hairs had fallen out. It also feels less fragile and stronger to handle while shampooing.

I wash my hair twice a week to reduce the rate of loss to allow time for hair to regrow at a steady rate.

I had mild loose stools (a symptom I had before the medicine) which didn't seem to go away and I had to take a different herb for 2 weeks to correct this as this was affecting my absorption of the alopecia medicine. Now I am back on the original medicine but quantities of certain herbs have been modified to prevent any loose stool or mild occasional bloatedness.

My immunity to colds, hayfever and allergies have not been affected. Except I did have an outbust of a cold sore for a few days but that went away.

The medicine does make me feel a little sluggish so I tend to have it first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

My diet is mainly full of cooked wholesome foods avoiding particularly cold foods, raw foods and cold drinks. I am also not allowed to eat certain foods like tomatoes and watercress etc as my spleen needs to recover at the same time as my blood building organs. It's been relatively easy as I have been having a lot of congees, baked sweet potatoes, beetroot, soups and broths. I don't eat raw foods except maybe the occasional side salad and I tend to snack on dried fruit and nuts. I certainly noticed a big improvement on my digestion and I no longer feel bloated in the mornings before breakfast and after dinner.

So far, I am happy with my progress and am looking forward to reporting after another 2 weeks or so.

Good to hear that you are making progress and thank you for sharing your experience. People can damage their bodies by going on extreme diets and it is good to see how to repair this . Good luck and take care
