Has anyone lost their hair due to severe estrogen deficiency and tried HRT to regrow their hair?

I just joined this site yesterday, hoping to find support for what is happening to me.
I will be 54 years old this year. Up until 2011 I had a full head of hair and was doing fine.
In Aug-2011 I had a costmetic procedure done to try to repair what a surgeon had done to me five months previous. I had wanted a very small amount of lipo done on my left lateral thigh, but what he ended up doing was removing 'all' my fat from both lateral thighs and my lower buttocks, the only areas of fat I had on my whole body. I only weighed 116 pounds and know now that he should have rejected me as a candidate for this procedure. The result was awful. I asked if some of the terrible loose tissue could be tightened with two small skin excisions on the upper part of my buttocks. He causually said sure. Then only a few days before the procedure he changed his mind and talked me into having the tissue removed from the bottom of both buttocks. He said there would be only minimal risk of infection, assured me it would be a good result. The procedure was horrible. He started cutting away even before the anesthetic had taken effect, causing me agonizing pain. 3 months later I suffered a seizure, and one month after that all my hair started falling out. I was so traumatized by this I had a nervous breakdown and was in the hospital for a month. All of 2012 I have slowly been watching myself go bald, strand by strand. I have been taking 75 mg spironolactone since the beginning of August, but there is no improvement -- no regrowth, it only gets worse by the day. I am also taking valium for my extreme anxiety; I am suffering more than words can ever say. My family have turned their back on me, leaving me so alone. My 10 year relationship has ended because of what has been done to me. I don't know how much longer I will be able to continue at my job which is a very high pressure, demanding job. My life has been destroyed by this. I had put a post on here yesterday asking if anyone has had any success at all with hair regrowth on hrt, but am so discouraged that there are no comments. It makes me think the answer must be no. My estradiol was 8.9 early last yaer, my testosterone 34. The spirolactone seems to have bought my estradiol up alittle to 30.8 the last time it was tested last month, but my hair loss with no regrowth just continues. If anyone has any experience at all with trying hrt or bhrt for their hair loss, please would you share your experience with me? I have searched the internet endlessly but am just not finding anything encouraging at all. I don't know what to do-- should I try it if the chances of the last of my hair falling out are very high? Could it possibly help me regrow some of my hair?
I really need someone to talk to. I hope someone will reply to my post.

There is no question you have been through some traumatic episodes in your life. I do hope that you are receiving some emotional support/counselling through all of this.

I am 50 and as of this past November have lost all of my hair on my body. 2 years a go I had a big mane of hair. I have Alopecia Universalis which is an autoimmune disease. Alopecia (most types) is an unpradictable disease. Hair falls out and grows back with our without treatment. I was told by my dermatologist that menapause is not a cause for alopecia...as he said, if it were then most woman wouldn't have hair:). Depending on your individual case there are many treatments....some quite successful. You need both a family doctor and dermatologist that you trust.

take good care:0

I would think that not many on this site have the same medical treatments and hormone treatments. Most are younger gals, more concerned about the school and dating stuff. I would think message boards about the other treatment might be a place to start, then casually asking IF any of THEM also had hair loss. Try Mayo Clinic or web doctor sites. Anyhoo, do not take it personally if gals on this site are clueless about your concerns. Medical experts will give better answers on all the side-effect stuff. Dermatologists can answer the alopecia questions.
