Finally back home - missed Alopecia World!

I wanted to post a short blog just to let you know that I didn't fall off the face of the earth, or abandon AW. I was travelling for 7 weeks in the UK (I posted a blog from there about meeting a bald woman at the airport in London), and then right after I got home, I took off for a week at my annual Balkan music and dance camp. So, I've had very infrequent Internet access for the past two months. I arrived home yesterday and am slowly catching up on everything.

This was my second year as a bald woman at the Balkan camp, and as some of you know, I skipped going to the camp in 2008 and 2009 because of my hair loss. This time I didn't even think about it, and no one made a big deal. I had to do some explaining about my recent growth of white fuzz on the top of my head, and my eyebrows and eyelashes, which have made a return appearance. I'm enjoying them for now, but I know that they may not last.

I've missed AW, and look forward to staying in touch and sharing with our wonderful community.

Please remember to join the International Alopecia Day Group, plan a small or large gathering/event in your home town on Saturday, August 6, AND take photos to send me so I can have as many locations as possible represented in this year's YouTube video. Let me know if you have questions about International Alopecia Day.

hugs to all,
Mary

Welcome back Mary! Sounds like a great summer for you! I would love to travel to the UK. Have an online friend there that I have chatted with for over 10 years. Sounds like you have been busy. Can't wait to see the new video on International Alopecia Day! I remember seeing the video from last year..it was great! For those of us that don't know, how do we send you photos? Through AW? Hugs Mary!

welcome back Mary, how do I find out if anything is happening in Toronto on August 6th?

You join the IAD Group if you haven't already:

http://www.alopeciaworld.com/group/internationalalopeciaday

Then, you post a new Discussion entitled "Toronto 2011" or something like that, and see if anyone replies.

OR you organize your own event - just a get-together in a park, or restaurant, or a walk...whatever, and post about it within the International Alopecia Day Group - just start a discussion if no one else has.

Does that make sense?

Welcome back Mary! I traveled a lot this year, myself. Two times, when I came back, the immigration officer was a woman with AA. She warmly greeted me and showed me a pic of her without hair. Kinda funny, and a great welcome back to the US.

Thanks. We were in the Scottish Highlands, NW coast, where it rained constantly. Then we were in the Yorkshire Dales, where it rained much of the time. Then we were in the Lake District, where we had some rain but also more clear days.
