Well, I have made it thru my work week with my first wig. It is better today than it has been the past couple days. It was more itchy for a little while there, but today has started off good. I have gotten alot of compliments this week, alot of surprise reactions when I tell them I have a wig, and alot of looks like they want to ask or they are trying to figure it out.

If someone asks me about it, then I am telling them. If it is someone that I am friends with, I tell them. Other than that, if what you don't know won't hurt you or me.

I bought a gel headband online to help with the itching and pressure points from the wig, I should be getting that next week so we will see if that helps. I find that my colics are bothering me more than anything, and maybe that is because of my hair adjusting to be buzzed and not going the usual way it had gone for 33 years.

I have been told by a few people that I am an inspiration because of the choices that I have made to get a wig and buzz my hair. I posted a few pictures of my buzzed hair to maybe help someone who is in the same situation as me and to help them know that they are not alone. I learned when I buzzed my hair that my length really did cover up alot of my thinning. I am alot thinner and balder than I thought I was. But you know what..that is okay. I have a feeling that it might get worse, but if it does than I will just buzz it shorter or just shave it. Depending on my mood =)

Hope you all have a great weekend!! I am ready to go out and about and show off my new do!

Julie, Thanks for the blog! I am going for my first wig consult tomorrow. Did you go with synthetic or human hair???? I don't want to spend a ton of money but want something that looks as natural as possible. Your profile picture looks so cute. Is that your wig?

That is my new wig Anne - it is synthetic and it was under $200. I didn't want the hassle of a real hair(humidity and all that jazz). I wanted to make it simple and that is what mine is. The salon I went to for my wig consult, the stylist trimmed the bangs and stuff to fit my face, I am very happy with my choice. Good luck! post pictures!

thanks Julie! You have become my inspiration! I talked with my sister today and she is very supportive. She thinks it would be fun if I had a whole wardrobe of wigs and could change them up for what ever the occasion! Yours looks so cute! I will keep everyone posted.

You are awesome! I remember my first weeks, all the self consciousness and, well self consciousness...you will be amazed and hopefully proud of yourself when you look back. I can't live without mine now, and the "good" friends are so cool, it's actually my "signature style" now, I have nothing to hide. I guess I felt like back in middle school (augh :)) the first time I wore this top or that pair of shoes...it lasted till the next crisis and I was old news, lol. You look great, and have lots of support! Be good to you.
Like you I with synthetics for lots of reasons too...cost, style, and for some reason I didn't like the idea of someone else's hair on my head..(I'm not ocd either, lol). Yay for you!

It is very freeing because I am not "hiding" anymore!
