... things have been super busy around our house. School for kids, school for hubby, school for me, volleyball for Shannon...
Shannon didn't respond to the steroid creams, and I wasn't willing to risk all the side effects of systemic steroids for the small chance of a response, so we stopped all treatment and we're going to just deal with what we have, and hope it resolves on its own when it's ready. Shannon's doing really well with all of this, I'm so proud of her.
So we're diving into the hunt for better hair options. The goal is eventually to get a vacuum wig, but that's going to take some doing.
I spent a great deal of time this afternoon on the phone with a Peggy Knight rep in our area (who was very nice and helpful) and insurance companies. Shannon is covered by both her Dad (my ex) and myself, so I hoped we'd have a shot at getting a vacuum wig covered. I don't think that's happening. BCBS (her primary insurance) specifically excludes coverage for wigs for Alopecia. :( Aetna (my insurance, her secondary) who I've had nothing but trouble with, amazingly covers wigs for Alopecia, but out of network (which I'm sure the vacuum wigs will be) is limited to $500. We have an appointment for a wig place that specializes in medical hair loss tomorrow that happens to be in-network, and in-network it's covered 90% so hopefully we'll get some good news there while we start the piggy bank fund for Shannon's vacuum wig. :)
Anyone know anything about Amy's Presence? (that's one option the guy we're seeing tomorrow carries, and the website says they stay on for sports & such, but doesn't say how)
