Well, I just got my first synthetic wig-- does anyone have any tips for keeping it looking like new? How often do you wash it, how to keep it from frizzing, etc.
Thanks,
kenra

JeezLouise is right, longer ones friz much faster. I have had my new one for about 2 months and it is starting to look pretty bedraggled. I am a bit different then JeezLouise though, I wash mine once a week with the wig shampoo and conditioner. The lady from my wig shop told me she uses the shampoo/conditioner at the same time and that is how I have done it lately. Mix them together in the water, let it sit for just a few minutes and then spray the leave-in when I hang to dry. Does seem to work well for me, and then it is pretty soft. I wouldn't mind knowing how in the heck JeezLouise gets away with brushing it once a day though LOL. I have to brush mine, at least the long one I have now, like a regular do. Bout 3-4 times a day.

THanks for your replies--- mine is longer (past my shoulders) and I am just having a hard time getting used to it--- it feels like it is bunching up in the back and sides, and I constantly fiddling with it--- I will probably have most of the hair pulled out of it in two months, so I won't have to worry about it frizzing!!!!!!!

My wigs are seldom worn and always get messy in storage. The local beauty school (in any town I live in) has always been kind enough to wash and style (synthetic or not) for free. I have no idea what they do with them, but they do it well. Check in your area would be my suggestion.
