I know it's been a while. I've been on quite a journey while I was away! In November, I decided to stop taking the birth control (yaz) that I started taking a few months before my AA began. Since then, my hair has been coming back nonstop! All is back with the exception of a small patch in the front. This is stemming from 75% loss of scalp hair and 95% loss of body hair. I never lost my eyebrows or eyelashes. I know that it may not be permanent, but I wanted to share this with you all.

Happy days!

Looks Good Melody.
Do you think there was a connection between your alopecia and "the pill"?

I was on vacation once when I noticed hairloss again after having hair for many years. I had just been taking BC pills for three weeks. I called back to my doctor long distance, and he told me to get OFF the pills immediately. So, there must be some concern for him to have said that. I never went on the pills again. Now, my hair is still arrested at minimal strip around my face (it eventually went universalis then totalis)...so, I gave up. Even stopped shots, creams, pills altogether! Much less worry. Now I just have healthy food and vitamins.

I would guess that there is a connection between my personal hair loss and YAZ. I'd been on the pill (orthotricyclin) since I was 15, but didn't start losing hair until I switched to Yaz. I suppose it was just that specific combination of hormones for me. It's been a fast process for me.. almost all gone, almost all back in little over a year.

I've been spacing out my topical steroid treatments further and further and have noticed no sign of new loss. Just growth. I'll always be prepared for the day that I find a new patch. Actually, I welcome the day if it should come. I'd say I have a nice shaped head for a bald scalp. :]
