So on Sept. 14 we had my daughters first dermatologist appointment and the derm told me it looks like she has all the signs of alopecia. Then she asked me how I felt about hearing that and I told her that I pretty much have been preparing myself to hear those words. I told her that I was actually glad it wasn't something worse. She told me my daughter looks healthy and that most likely if I have a family member that had it or if I have a family member with thyroid its more likely to occur. So it's been an amazing experience with alopecia, like I told one of my sisters its funny how I never knew Alopecia existed until now. I want people to know what it is and to be more informed like I am. I don't know too much don't get me wrong but for the most part I can tell you that it is not something that is life threatening, its not contagious and its very unpredictable. Like the derm said she might just out-grow it and you will never see it again. If that happens good if not then I have my worst case scenerio ready to go!!lol She has grown alot of her hair back so she has a head full of hair. She still has a quarter-size spot but for the most part all her spots have grown their hair back. I am teaching myself not to worry about it and to offer my daughter all the support that she will one day need as she gets older. She is only two so right night she is just a happy little energetic munchkin!! I do have moments when I worry about it but who doesn't have things to worry about. I try not to waste time worrying about it because I have to remember she has Alopecia, Alopecia doesn't have her!!!!! When she gets older I will teach her how to grab the bull by the horns!!!! Will keep you posted!
