I am a little confused when you start to lose your hair does it come out in clumps or small amounts I had only 2 small circles then my hair was falling from everywhere I still have about 10 percent of my hair but now it seems to be growing back. It has been about 10 or 11 weeks from when it first started so if anyone can answer I would appreciate some feed back.
Annette
Depends I think. I notice a lot gets stuck to my hands when I'm conditioning. Otherwise, I don't even notice the hairs falling. I only seem to realize there's another spot when I actually see it.
Seems different for everyone. I am experiencing major loss for the second time, and this time it was just patches here and there and now it's like connect the dots. The first time I lost all of my hair it just seemed to be gone all over within a few weeks. Sorry but I don't think there is a typical answer to that one.
Ok so I guess that depends on each person has loss differently well It seems to be growing back already so I guess I have to wait and see what happens thanks for your responds guys.
Yes it sounds that way oh well I think it was the medication I was put on so I will see if it keeps growing back. Thanks
First I lost "bits" of it but I did notice it falling down, bathroom, bed, everywhere in the house. I could have had a broom in my hand all day long ;) Then it stopped falling, I wasn't bald then and didn't have big patches with no hair either, at that time I had what we call in French "rat tails" and my hair was going further and further away from my brow. I couldn't say how much I lost in thickness, I had it shortened, it grew again, one good inch, and ....... it fell again in big big clumps during one week. And after that week within two days : I had lost it all ! It was confirmed to me today by another dermatologist that the 1st diagnosis of telogen effluvium was wrong it was already alopecia, now it's universalis. I'll have some UVB rays in Feb to see if it helps. The doctor said it was a good sign that there had been a growth after the 1st episode. Well I can just hope for you Annette that it will grow back. Fingers crossed.
I definitely lot mine in bits, but it fell out in different spots (the spots were all over and just kept growing until they connects to become bigger). I rarely had an instance where a huge handful would come out at once.
Mine never grew back, but everyone has different experiences with alopecia!!
How wonderful it must feel great to be getting your hair back did you only loose it the once
Thanks everyone for answering my question it's been helpful and comforting to know I'm not alone. Friends are starting to notice my little white regrowth now so I am feeling a little better knowing it's growing back even if it's white I don't care it could be purple for all I care just miss my hair. But I also think about woman with breast cancer who loose their breast and hair it must be devistating the 2 things that define your woman hood. We are lucky I guess to only loose our hair.
Since I've started losing my hair I've been trying to comfort me thinking that at least it didn't mean it was because of a cure for a cancer. I read here and there that some people cried a lot when their hair fell, I didn't altho' I didnt sleep well for a week and even now after over a month I still feel it's weird waking up and realizing my hair's gone ... I don't mind telling many people I've got a wig and if it gets too hot this summer I think I won't put anything on my head.
Yes we are having 40 degrees here at the moment it is way to hot for a wig so I just wear a bandana at the moment even then my head is weating very badly.
