Hello
I have two kids with alopecia. My 8 year old son Filipe has had alopecia totalis since he was 1 year old. My daughter Olivia got areata last November, and now in October she turned into totalis. She has also started to loose her eyelashes. We have accepted that Filipe never will get his hair back, but does anyone have any experience with children and regrow? We hope she will get her hair back, but at the same time it is difficult to always live in a constantly hope.. on her head it looks like we has shaved her, cause the roots are still there. Is there anyone out there who has any experience with this? Filipe got a wih, but will not use it. Olivia got a Follea wig, and wears it a little bit. Feels like we are a living museum cause everybody are looking at our children. We were used to have one children with alopecia and dealing with that, but it is not that common to have to children with it. But we are still positive and know for sure our children will have a good life:) right now it feels like it is more frustrated for us than our children. They are two in the same situation and can support each other, and they don't see them self as different! Have a good evening out there:)
The hair can come back, don't loose hope. Focus on making them as healthy as possible through diet and see if they have any diet or nutrient deficiencies. After cleaning up their diet, focus on any environmental toxins and or stress levels. You need to keep the inflammation as low as possible. Processed food, dairy, grains, stress, etc. all cause inflammation. If nothing else, your kids will feel a lot better. It might be a good idea to look into functional medicine doctors, they find root causes instead of just treating the symptoms. Don't loose hope and hang in there. Best of luck to your family.
hi - I have got 4 children and 3 of them have alopecia.
