Today here in Ontario it is very hot out! I haven't been wearing a wig for the last week at home just walking around my home and yard with my smooth baldie head :)
This afternoon I realized I had to go to the store and couldn't wait for my husband to get home so I had to go no matter what.
I bought a nice looking scarf early this week and thought I'm not wearing a wig in this heat, I put my scarf on and off I went to the store I did this for the very first time!!! I thought I don't give a damn who stares at me, so I walked to the store with my head held high full of confidence and I was little nervous people would stare me down, but to my realization, all the folks that were out never stared at me and to me that meant a great deal, I was just soooo happy that no one looked at me like I didn't belong or something..
I feel just wonderful that I took that very first step :)

HI LYNN, THAT IS SO GREAT THAT YOU TOOK THAT STEP. BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU WILL BE WALKING OUT WITHOUT THE SCARF. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL WITHOUT IT. WHEN I FIRST WENT OUT BALD I HAD THE SAME ATTITUDE, I DID NOT CONCERN MYSELF WITH WHO WAS LOOKING AT ME OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE. I DID HAVE PEOPLE SAY THINGS LIKE, I WISH I HAD THE COURAGE TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE DONE AND THE MOST COMMENT OF ALL, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU ARE WORKING THAT STYLE. WELL, I HEAR WHAT PEOPLE WERE SAYING,BUT WITHING MYSELF I realized WHAT THEY WERE SAYING BEFORE I CAME OUT. THANK GOD FOR THE FIRST STEP. AS LONG AS WE KNOW WHO WE ARE AND LOVE OURSELVES THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN'T BE CONFIDENT ABOUT AND DO IN OURSELVES. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!

You have nothing to fear but fear itself. I live in a downtown Condo with 2 security guards always at the desk. I have been mixing up my look a lot in the past week I have worn 3 wigs and just a hat. I was petrified to walk past them at first and now I am so over it. I actually said hi to them last night and I was wearing this long straight hair with a hat. I am thinking this is getting easier. I only moved into this building 10 months ago at which time I had a full head of really nice hair. Going to a BBQ this afternoon and seeing old friends I havent seen in over 15 years. I am a little afraid but it has to be done.

Cheers to you Lisa ... it would seen as though all eyes would be on numero uno, but as you see nobody stopped to mess with your head. SO CONGRATULATIONS ON THOSE BABY STEPS! Normally I don't hear, see, know, or care to notice if anyone looks. Although yesterday while watching my grandkids playing at the park, a little girl whispered to her mom "MOMMY THAT LADY HASN'T GOT ANY HAIR"
Well, mommy avoided her daughters question, and the little girl said it again, "MOMMY THAT LADY HAS NO HAIR" and mommy responded to her daughter ..."OH YOU LIKE HER GLASSES" So I noticed how uncomfortable and embarrassed mommy was in my presence, so I eased her burden by saying "NO YOUR DAUGHTER IS CURIOUS ABOUT ME HAVING NO HAIR, ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL ... SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE ANSWERING YOU DAUGHTER, IF I'M FINE WITH IT" (WHAT'S THE COLOR OF RED)

Good for you, Lisa! I hope maybe at some point in my life, I can do the same thing!

You go Lisa!!! I started out wearing scarves. I think it might be a little easier for black women to rock a scarf and it just seems the norm. People are very accepting of the scarves and still to this day, I am completely bald and people just think I decided to wrap my hair up. LOL, I call it my ponytail. When I don't feel like dealing with a wig, I wrap around my ponytail.
