Hello everybody ! My name is Kristine and I have had alopecia since my early twentys. I am now 35 years of age. I started shaving my head about 2 and a half years ago. Boy, was that liberating ! Out of sight, out of mind for the most part... Now I'm really into hats and scarfs. I love wearing them. My husband shaves my head for me. It is sort of messy with all of these tiny hairs I end up finding on the bathroom floor or on my toothbrush days after a good buzzing.
Then I met this really cool hair designer named Ariel Caballero here in the beautiful Wood River Valley in Idaho. He works at the most beautiful salon named Adricas. I'm a cashier at a grocery store and Ariel came through my check out line and said - "If you ever want me to shave your head for you, just let me know." I wasn't sure what to say. I never thought I would set foot in a salon again. I responded by saying Awesome. I went home and thought about it and the next time I saw Ariel I told him Tuesday at 3:oo would be great. I was nervous but I was really excited about simply walking into a salon again. I walked in and Ariel handed me a Rolling Stone magazine and offered me a drink. We had the best conversation for the next 30 minutes and during that time I forgot I had alopecia. Then when I thought it was over he said follow me for a shampoo. I got the best head massage and shampoo ever ! And I did not have a mess to clean up after-ward ! This experience was beyond words of expression. It was really the confidence boost I've been needing lately. Thank you Arial. You really made me feel well, still beautiful. And to all of you ladies and gentlemen that don't think you have a reason any more to step foot into a salon by all means we still have have every reason to pick up that phone and set that appointment still !!! Feel good about yourself !-Kristine.
