Hello everyone I need help. You see I work in retail and I have had many people come up and ask me why I don't have hair and I have had to many just asume that I have cancer. And I just wanted to know if there is anywhere I can get a button or ribbon that represents Alopecia to show that I don't have cancer. Thank you.
We had yellow ribbons in the same form of the pink cancer ribbons for the 2000 NAAF Conference. You could wear one with the words Alopecia on one side and Areata on the other (or Alopecia Totalis, or Alopecia Universalis...use a fine point laundry marker) and just quietly point to it. Have some pre-printed business-size cards with a NAAF definition on them to hand out so you don't take up work time with explanations.
Tallgirl thank you so much for the info I will do that. Thank you again ^^
Samantha, for Alopecia Awareness back in Sept this year the NAAF had bracelets that was made that has the website www.alopeciaareata.org on them that was use to raise awareness. It worked great for me. I was able to hand out as many as a 100 to educate. You have to contact Joe@naaf.org for inform.
Sorry for bringing this post alive, but there seems to be many different colours representing alopecia. The NAAF say yellow, Beautiful and bald say light blue, and wikipedia doesn't even mention alopecia (and they have collected a lot of ribbons...) Is there an official colour?
