My grandmother was visiting for a week and she demanded that I bring her out on shopping sprees almost everyday. As I am merely an underling grandchild, I had to oblige. Besides, she bought some stuff for me. :D

The first day of our outings, I wore that wig I bought, out. FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was nerve-wrecking really. The people on the streets were staring. I was hoping that it was because my hair looked fabulous, but I think it is because it looked fabulously wiggish. :/ But I just endured anyway, and gave the 'What are you staring at, punk?' look back at them.

The problem with the wig is that the hair style makes my head look bulbous. It is flattering at some angles, and not so at others. Actually, I'm not sure if the cause is the style or my hair that I bunned up under a wig cap, but I have no idea how to 'de-bulbify' it.

In any case, I bought this really cool clip-on fringe. It is cool because it is sort of like a top piece but the main emphasis in on the fringe. There is enough hair that I can pull back and tie into a pony tail. But in all honesty, I wish the fringe was longer. I look quite childish with bangs. I wore the clip on fringe out last night. When my friend first saw it he said. 'OMG you cut your fringe!!' And when we were about to part ways to head home he mentioned 'You shouldn't have cut your fringe.' This I hope is an indication that he didn't know I was wearing a fringe-wig.

But some dudes were giggling at me from afar ( D:< ) when I was dining with another friend before and on the same day, so I suppose it takes a discerning eye to guess. I know it was because of the shine. It always shines too much. After trying the vinegar method, the shampoo method and the powder method, I am convinced that the best way is time.

Also, my friend who has a full head of hair recently began taking this pill called Hair Push Plus. And I have to admit, her hair does look way thicker than before. I am thinking of buying it. :)

Hi Nikki, yea the first few times can be kinda tough walking out with a wig but it's really cool that you still did it :) I think the more you play with wigs and maybe get more, you'll find out what works for you and what doesn't. And there are wigs out there that are not as thick - they are more "thin" at the top and I find that works really well for me as they tend to be less heavy and not as voluminous. Oh, and if all else fails, you can also try clipping it or putting on a head band.

Good for you! It will feel weird the first few times, but you will truly find that most of the stares were in your own mind. At first, I was super self concious about my wig and I could feel eyes on me all the time. But in all honesty, I dont think people who dont know us really give a second thought to how our hair looks. Just remember, it's a self fufilling prophecy. If you aren't comfortable, people will notice that more than what's on your head. Experiment a ton, find out what works for you, and add a healthy dose of confidence. Fake it till you make it, and before long, you wont even feel like you're wearing a wig anymore. Good luck!
