After 5 years...I finally bought a wig. I kinda was googling for ways to make it less shiny and then this site popped up!

The wig is not really my first choice as a wig. But due to constraints (just money really) I am left with limited choices.
So I went down to some market street to get a fashion wig for only $52 which included a wig cap. My friends who have lovely natural hair had bought some from that store because they wanted to change their look, and I thought some of the wigs looked pretty good.

I was kinda hesistant when I got to the store because the area where I was trying on the wigs had high traffic. I just sucked in my pride and did it anyway. People were staring as the store assistant was putting on and taking off various wigs for me. The horror right! But I just pretended I was alone. My friend was with me as well - although we acknowledge the existence of my hairloss, we don't really talk much about it and she looked kinda uncomfortable.

So anyway, to be really honest the wigs look, well, wiggy. But it is because of the shine and density - too thick at the top. I like the style, its similar to my own. It gets kind of itchy under the cap too. :( But no pain, no gain. I'm gonna wash the wig soon to get rid of the shine.

It looks so wiggy. Hmm do you think I should trim the fringe?

I think its cute! The more I wear mine, the more realistic it looks. I find that a wig spray really helps things too. Most wig shops have them. Headbands and clips really help too. Try out a few different styles before you commit to cutting it. Good luck!

I concur. The longer you wear it, the more natural it looks. Mess with it and use product in it. It's looks really cute, however. Also, I find that lighter wigs are less shiny -- so maybe one with some lighter highlights or chunky color would help. Regarding the fringe -- do what you like. I imagine it will look good either way.

I agree with Marie, just play around with it. It was tough initially for me to wear wigs and I always felt uncomfortable but now, I'm just loving them. it's so much fun.

Anyways, you look really cute in it! I find that more people won't even know :)

Nikke, I was told to put a generous amount of baby powder or talcum powder on your wig. After applied, just shake it a bit. This has worked for me to get rid of the shine.
