met with my dermotologist again last friday for my third intramuscular kenalog (steriod) shot. i have dense, dark regrowth in all three of my current bare spots with the exception of one dime size portion of the largest spot which insists on remaining hairless. it's good i suppose. i'm relieved. i'm also trying to remind myself that it may or may not be permanent. the intramuscular steriod shots appear to be responsible. stay tuned.

peach fuzz is a very good sign indeed! now this shot your getting is the bum bum shot, right? how is it different from getting the shots directly in your spots? is it more expensive?

did your derm recommend Rogaine for regrowth at all??? mine did, but i have yet to try it out...

eva:
I believe that the kenalog shot into my hip/arse is a higher dose of steriods than the spot shots. i was told that putting it into the muscle creates a 'time release' effect thereby giving me a more or less steady dose of the steriods over a longer period of time. I am not sure if it is more expensive. My derm visits are covered by my insurance.

re rogain: my derm recommend using it to help with my regrowth. i had avoided using it because of things that i read on the alopecia world indicating that the hair would fall out once you stopped applying the rogain. my derm said that, while that may be true for people who have androgen allopecia (caused by hormones) he said that in my that my head should be able to retain that hair now because my AA is not active. <3

fyi: it appears that resistance really is futile... my hair has started falling out in new places. bummer.
