For those that don't know me my name is Danielle. I'm a poet and very much into the arts. I've been struggling with hair loss the past 2 years and I'm desperately trying to find others who are dealing with the same thing. Things have been very lonely for me lately, for I avoid leaving out unless I truly have to. I live in Maryland and I haven't really been able to meet anyone with Alopecia. This message goes out to anyone near, or in my area who is looking for a friend who is caring and understanding. I'm not against being contacted, just send me a message on here. Just want to let anyone else who is in my position know that..you are not alone.

I am an artist and teacher, with some training in counseling, psychology, communication and suicide prevention. Go look at all my old blogs and discussions...I think you will get some hints on movie and music "therapy" to soothe the soul, as well as discussions on attitude and self-acceptance. Maybe I don't have time with holiday employment to rewrite things for every new question on here, but I can direct others to great discussions (see the categories and tags). There have been some lively talks on this site! Also go to archives for past months and years. There are specific groups to join for special concerns, and videos to watch.

By the way...never give out your real name or e-mail address here. You might want to edit your blog and re-publish. You may be inviting anyone from anyone in the world, with any purpose, bald or not, to pick up on you without the filters of friends on this site. Just sayin'...

{{{Danielle}}}

I co-sign everything said by Tallgirl. Lots of support and outlets here. A great bunch of people who are more than willing to listen. Folks who really understand.

Also, you may wish to make plans to attend the 2012 NAAF Conference coming up in July. It's going to be in DC.

Angie

P.S.: I grew up in Silver Spring many moons ago! My brother stays in your town. Go TERPS!!! Go SKINS!!!
