Hi! I was diagnosed with alopecia areata last september right before my son's (minor) surgery. The doctors said it was probably stress and that it would be "totally fine" after steroid injections... it wasn't fine. It spread to about the size of a ritz cracker, right on the crown of my head, then I got another one right next to it. They responded well to the treatments, but 2 more spots showed up, and again, I went to get steroid injections. They seem to work for me, which I honestly am thrilled about. I didn't realize how much I loved my hair until I started losing it.
The more I read on AA, the more I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do other than injections. Has anyone tried the RLT therapy? or a major change in diet? Everyone who DOESN'T have alopecia has an opinion on it, and it's really just making me feel worse!"eat healthier" "go paleo" "just shave your head ad buy a wig" "losing your hair isn't the worst thing that could happen-you COULD have cancer!!"
so.freaking.annoying.
Also- is there anyone else here that knows when a spot is going to show? I swear, I can almost feel them coming on!

We have all asked the same questions and hoped the same things. Many people in advertising claim cures that are scams, so see www.naaf.org for the real scoop, and see my blog above yours for recent research.
I attended the NAAF conference in St. Louis last month, and during one of the presentations by medical experts, I asked specifically about RLT. None of these experts who are at the leading edge of finding a cure for Alopecia Areata had heard of it.
I think diet/supplements is the best way to heal alopecia but I do not completely agree with the RLT guidelines(such as drinking coffee).
I don't even know where to find the rlt guiedlines, I've googled it, but came up empty...
That's because you have to pay for it. If you go to the NAAF support message boards, Jeff G is doing it and maybe he will give you the secret diet for free? lol. Good Luck.
i have the RLT diet book and would be willing to share. I want to know if anyone else has tried or ever seen anyone succeed with this. I cannot find a soul!
I think RLT is a marketing scheme honestly. They have had one person that I know of that have had success with it and they just keep marketing his hair growth. People can grow their hair back by changing their diet if that is their underlying cause but I would argue that there are much healthier diets than RLT. I bought the book (regret it) and they did not provide any support to me whatsoever. In my opinion, they are trying to take advantage of people because a few people have had success with it. Don't spend your $ on it. In my opinion, you don't need to pay $100+ for a book and an average multi vitamin. You can research healthy diets such as paleo online for free and buy a high quality multivitamin for much cheaper. Good luck
Oh my goodness! Yep. I paid $325 on September 3rd, To date i have only gotten a 30 day supply of some vitamin/probiotic? i didn't even open it because i had to beg to get that bottle and i'm totally turned off by the whole thing. I started out with my 4 days with zero food, too! I made it 11 days and i had not rec'd my supplements i paid for. i was emailed a pdf folder with the 'directions'. I tracked them down on FB and email. As of 10-01 a guy told me i would get my other 30 days when they caught up with production. He said he was my mentor and to keep him posted. I've never heard from him and 'surprise!' my other 30 days of pills has never shown up. I am so disgusted.
Such a ripoff and then they promote that it's helping so many people and they are so glad that they can make such a different, it's all a huge marketing scheme. Also, you can't even write on the wall on their FB to discuss how much of a joke it is. They give people false hope, which is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, changing diet is essential with anyone with an autoimmune disease. But they make it seem like it's a one fit all approach (not true) and they make it seem like their diet is so scientific to make the body regrow hair. They use all these fancy words that no one understands to make them sound like they know what they are talking about. I am all for growing my hair back and I am all for being healthy, changing diet, and taking a high quality vitamin but it should not cost $300+ for literally a mediocre diet. Is it better than the average american diet, yes it is. It's far from healthy in my mind and the diet is extremely expensive. What a joke and I'm glad someone else recognizes it as well. I wish so many people wouldn't fall trap to that. There's 4500 fans on Facebook, its just a huge marketing scheme as is everything else. We can heal our bodies holistically, I truly believe that. but don't make the same mistake that I did and spend money on a diet that makes promises. It's all about finding your underlying unique cause. Thank u Brittany for sharing your thoughts, wish there was more we could do about it
Oh yea, i try to read comments on fb but they must delete them or something. They are careful not to let people discuss things amongst each other it seems. You have some great points!
