So this bald girl walks in for an interview...

Finally made it to Texas. All the way from Idaho and feels like I have moved into a different country. People drive here as if gold is at the next light. Freakin fast. Big change from in town speed of 25 mph.
When I moved here, I made the decision to wear the "Love me or leave me outfit". As is. No returns. The one that was always in the closet. Meaning going out without a scarf or hat. Come to find out, it's been my best outfit yet.
People stare. But this time instead of looking away like I would normally do. I make eye contact with them. I get the old man look of him shaking his head in disappointment but now it makes me giggle. Why cause it's 2012 ! We are of the new generation. Not to mention it's hot here already and my apology for anyone regarding my alopecia has been thrown out the window like I did with several wigs and it felt good. For the most part people have been kind. In a hurry. Doing their own thing. I love it ! I still have my hormonal induced sad bald days. But for now I'm on a roll of good days.
I went in for an interview at this health food store that I used to work at when I had hair. Still under same owner. When I walked in the owner said I had a hard time putting a face to your name but when you walked in she said I remember that smile. She never brought up my hair. I brought it up after she offered me the job ! And she was going over the dress code. I said so your ok with my shaved head and tears welled up in her eyes and she grabbed my hand and said it saddens me you have to ask that and I was like well... She said you are fine. If you want to wear a scarf or a hat it's fine. Just don't be late. We both boo hooed for a second with warm fuzzies. And I told her thank you and let her know that her saying that meant the world to me. I'm bald and employed ! No apologies. She said I can't say customers will be as cool as herself and I said well, that's retail. I can deal with customers. But you just made a very loyal employee and will make you proud. Deep sleep at last. Good night beautiful friends.

Welcome to Texas!! :) Yes, us Texans do drive fast. I make eye contact with them too. This is a great post. So glad you found a job, and it sounds like you have a great boss. And yes, it is hot already, but it has only just begun.

I know it has been said already but this is very uplifting. And the customers never have to put up with bad hair days...

Thank you so much everyone. It's good to be comfortable at home, back in Big D. I'll be speeding like all the rest of em here soon. But till then I'm gonna take the back roads and smell the flowers.
Theresa, If you ever make it out to Dallas let's have some iced tea somewhere !
