So I see there have been a few changes in how chat works and such, still getting used to it. There seems to be a few bugs but I have faith they will be worked out in no time flat.

It got me to thinking.

With every site there are things I like and things I don't.

However, when I find a site that I LOVE, such as AW, it is worth the very minor 'growing pains' I may have to deal with from time to time

If however, I belonged to another site, one that I found that I no longer fundamentally agreed with, well I would simply remove my profile and move on. Simple really when you think about it.

And that is why I cannot wrap my head around why anyone who is obliviously seriously upset with ANY site remains on it - and endlessly criticizes it. Sure we may try at first to use our criticisms as a way to try to enact a change - but surely when in ones own mind the negatives are outweighing the positives - it must be time to move on - or at the very least keep ones negativity to themselves

Perhaps I am not thinking clearly on this and thus my plea 'someone, anyone, please help me understand.'

LilyBell,

I'm happy to hear that you so LOVE Alopecia World that you think "it is worth the very minor 'growing pains' [you] have to deal with from time to time." :-)

Believe it or not, I feel exactly the same way about AW! LOL

It has also been my practice to simply move on when I became displeased with the overall content, design, or management of other websites. Besides, I recognize that most websites are private property although the public may have the privilege of accessing and even contributing to them. I guess it's just the libertarian in me to live and let live. ;-)

At the same time, I truly believe that website owners should be open to constructive criticism and responsive to the reasonable requests of the people who take the time visit and join their websites. This is why anyone displeased with anything they find or experience on AlopeciaWorld.com is encouraged to go to the following page and report the issue:

http://www.alopeciaworld.com/main/index/report

Our diligent team tries to respond to all these reports in a timely and responsible manner, but it must be understood that we cannot share personal or confidential information about any member with another member for ethical and legal reasons.

Thanks again for loving AW, LilyBell.

Wishing you great joy and good success,

I completely agree. I have been browsing around this site and must say AW has been a source of encouragement, and inspiration. Life is too precious to have a dark cloud floating around when others are trying to break through to see and feal healing from their own seperate times of depression, confusion, grief/ loss.

Not sure where the first response landed (planetary thing:), so here's another post:

Ummmm, did I miss something here? I don't participate in chat but did notice while replying to messages that lists were suddenly showing up from the chat room, and I figured out that we can close or open these little windows of our own volition..which is a very nice feature:).
Working for a hospital with 7500 employees and an IT staff that spent the whole day and most nights trying to create things to confuse us (tongue in cheek), I'm sort of accustomed (if that's possible) to logistic surprises.
Life is more difficult now for me, so if something is creating too much stress, it has to go. However, I think there are times in our lives when we just want to fight even though we know that the best thing to do would be to avoid the confrontations. We're sort of revving up our engines for the next battle, looking everywhere for a disagreement for the sake of releasing a lot of angst. One misstep and someone is going to regret it, with the door slammed on their foot:).
Negativity is not good for any of us whether the giver or recipient of the comments; however, there are days, months, or years of our lives when it's hard to be positive about anything. We seem to be destined for all the worst that life can "dump on us" and instead of just saying that "life is hell," we just attack everything that we can.
Okay, now, LilyBell, you can tell me that I totally misunderstood your question and you are now wondering what planet I'm living on:)! ((Hugs)) Susan (Love this site too!)

When you're trying to understand why someone hangs around who isn't happy, do you have someone particular in mind? I assume you do, but not knowing who, or what their history is, I'll have to work blind (but not blind drunk - I'm saving that for weekend).

I think that, generally, they'll stay because either they're lonely/depressed/needy and haven't anywhere else to go, or they're trying to get attention by constantly moaning and trying to solicit sympathy.... do you think any of those might fit this Enigmatic Entity?

The other possibilities are that they're deliberately trying to stir up trouble for their own ends, maybe so they can say "they're always arguing and falling out on... (insert site name here)", or maybe they're just generally 'orrible peeps who like getting into fights.

Does any of that help, or have I (in typical fella fashion) totally missed the point? Whatever, now you've declared undying lurrrve for AW, tell us what RJ and Cheryl send you for Xmas :)

And for Soo: as an IT worker myself, I feel it only fair to enlighten you to the fact that if we didn't keep changing things and confusing users, you might have time to realise we haven't a clue what we're doing and are just making it up as we go... oh yes!

As a founder of Alopecia World, I must insist that we leave the names (or descriptions) of specific people, businesses, or organizations out of this discussion. We can gain sufficient insight into the issue raised by LilyBell without "making it personal."

That said, as a former IT guy myself, I disagree with Norm on at least one point: It's the constant changes themselves that convince end users that we haven't a clue as to what we're doing! LOL

Purposes/needs of humans: Attention, POWER, money, sex, ownership, acceptance, WINNING (being "right"), greed, avoidance, escape. Most things can be summed up in one of these for any given annoying or persistent behavior. Ask any teacher!!!

Blessed be the IT workers who love their careers enough to play with computers when not being paid for their "creativity"... we'd be lost without ya! (Not a peep of criticism from me because I'm always oblivious to any problems until the whole program crashes...and then I just quietly tip toe out of the room during the finger-pointing:).)

Here's a notion :

" Sometimes in life you will find people that aren't happy unless they're complaining. Just like the old homeless woman who exits the food bank with a Virginia Ham under one arm and barks .. What No Bread ?? "

Every time I come across some lost soul who finds the JUST the negative in everything ...it makes me realize how glad I am to not be that type of person.

Its a big planet, the glass half empty folks can pick a corner ... and have at it :)
