I am asking any of you who have decided to give speeches to schools or classes...what questions usually come up? What information do you include in your presentations? I am thinking of doing this, as an alopecian since 1963 and as a teacher now...I think I can help.

Hey :)
I am a sophmore in high school. i just gave a speech about alopecia for a speaking unit in English class. It had to be 5 minutes long.. so i talked about, what it is, and the differnt kinds, then who it effects how many people have it ect, and what research is being done about it. I was so scared to do it, but everyone in my class was so nice about it and asked lots of basic questions like; (what age do you get it? does the hair ever come back? ect.)
*Also i found out someone in my class, her father has it too! :) small world

Hello Tallgirl,I having went into the classroom setting, but I drive a school bus /Transit bus for a University the difference is the College students cares one way or the other they have seem me both ways with/without hair on the other hand school age children and boy do they have question. lol Where did in come from, how do you get it,will your hair grow back,do you miss it,is there a cure for it,can I catch it??? I transport grades K-2nd barely understand but i'm teaching them each day,now my 6th-8th graders I must say I was surprised by reaction from the students, all the fears I had about living life as a bald woman this past May what the students would say,was nothing like I had imaging it. After the first few days educating them on Alopecia Universalis nothing else was said. I did some questions for students about dating, coping, bullying, teasing. I ask my teens boys if they were dating a girl and she lost her hair would they quit her ? Would they date a girl that have Alopecia? How would they feel if Alopecia would happen to them? Also asking the teens the same.
etc I also give the students the website to search. Hope all go well.
