You have the right place. Go check out the groups in your area of living, and read through the discussion and blog topics of most concern to see what others have said. Join in some discussions...it is a two-way street here. Use this site, not personal e-mail, for the most safety. I have seen new people on here start to get some personal answers for themselves within a week. Just keep reading. I am 59, and have been on this site for a few years. It really helps with the emotional part of having hair loss.

Hi and welcome. Just over a year ago I stumble upon this site after feeling much despair of feeling alone. In a matter of days, I had many people reaching out and many of those I consider friends today. You will never feel alone when you come here. I too have unversalis and have been dealing with disease for 28/29 years of my 36 years. With finding this site I have found a new mission in life and learned to embrace who I am. Im confident you aswell will find this in a short matter of time. You are fabulous and are among friends here.

There are always people here ready and willing to correspond, many of us living alone. Although there aren't a lot of people with alopecia universalis, 55% of the current U.S. population (unsure of Canada) lives alone and one can only imagine how many have debilitating diseases, physically and emotionally. The best way to overcome loneliness is to confront the fear of communicating openly with others and you've made a good start. There's a lot to read and a lot of interesting discussions that you can participate in...so just reply to whatever seems to "soothe your soul". It won't take long to meet some of us; we're a pretty friendly group:). ((Hugs)) Susan

Thanks Ailsa abgail. That's a great suggestion; although, it's been pretty quiet there lately....everybody working longer hours...or taking more afternoon naps?:) Can it be that some of us are out there partying....hmmmmm?

Welcome! I'm 52 years old and have had female pattern baldness since I was in my late teens.

I've had AU for 32 years now.

Your not walking his road alone anymore, in fact your know in a traffic jam on the alopecia highway. Guess we'd all better pull over, have a coffee and have some fun :).

Seriously, welcome to the site.

Paul
