I have had alopecia since I was tweleve years old. I am now 28 and it is a normal part of my life. It is a bit frustrating because it comes in the form of patches all over.I have alopecia areata. Right now I have 9 patches. I have some rather large ones on the sides and the vertex area (learned that terminology from the derm). I can cover it, but I am very self conscious of it when I go out in public becasue one false move will expose my patches and then I have to either come up with a clever excuse or face the truth. I have worn wigs before about 1 year and a half ago I was a wig wearing diva because almost 80 percent of my hair was gone. Now I have hair but these darn patches are driving me crazy. I have been getting injections, but that's a whole nother post. I am trying to decide whether or not to wear my wigs again. My husband doesn't mind it. He said he loves me for me and not my hair, which is very comforting because the women in his family have beautiful hair and I thought since my hair was that way when we met and married that he would expect it. I also want my wig to look as natural as possible. I hate the faje look, but I am ballin on an budget. I am a mom to two sons and a teacher. I know that the better looking wigs cost some money. Decisions, decisions. Has anyone else gone through this process of deciding whether or not to wig?

I wear wigs, and I am a wigaholic. Yes, the best looking wigs do cost money. However, from what I have seen & heard, the majority of people will not be able to tell it is a wig even with the cheaper ones. I usually buy ones that cost between $100 - $150. The shorter the wig, the longer it will last. It depends on what you want and like. I haven't looked back once since I started wearing wigs. I would have started sooner, but I had no idea that they have cute modern styles available that are affordable. I would rather have people wonder if I am wearing a wig, than have to try to hide my bald spot each day!
