In my journey of growth and learning I came across a book about Buddha nature or the Buddha way. Simply titled Buddha Nature Now. Im always wanting to take in new information of our world with an open mind.
Upon reading into part of this book it talks about oneness. Simply put we are of one within our own body, we are one with our family, our community, our country and our world. We know that our actions are felt on a small scale within our personal circle, it is harder to think on a grander scale that our actions effect the world. But think about the ripple effect of a stone dropping in a pond and then it gets easier to think grander.
This is not what made me stop and ponder. It was a line that said "When we handle the events and challenges that occur daily in life, with courage, responsibility and faith, peaceful means are ours. All things pass and when one realizes that each event is but a temporary stage in life; there is no duality of good or bad, happiness or sad, just various stages of complexity and change. Coming to realize the profound Oneness of all life, we realize that though we are different in personality, we are all one within humanity."
Stop and think on this "stages of complexity and change" WOW. If I stop with the negative reference of having a "bad" day or a shitty day; and instead think of it as a stage of complexity that Im facing. Its no longer so damaging to my mind. I was told at work to try to pay attention to how we speak to our guests. Instead of no problem or no worries use absolutely or I will look into that immediately. The theory on that is that when we say no problem to the guest the first thing they hear is "NO". Its immediately the negative reference they hear. It works the same with ourselves. Realizing that having a shitty day or a string of bad luck automatically puts us in a negative mind frame. When you instead change that to; this is just a stage of life onwards to change. Yes its complex (try not to use the difficult as its a negative word too) but this stage shall pass. This changes our mind frame into a calmer state. No longer are we anger or frustrated (as much, for we are all human and not Buddhas) If we are calmer and more peaceful of mind we are sharing that with the world.
How many of us had a "bad hair day"; today was the day that you most hated alopecia and what is happening to our bodies? We hate that our hair is falling out. The treatments hurt like a bitch. And we cant stop crying. We feel ugly and look at ourselves in the mirror. Instead of using all those negative words and thoughts that poison our minds, we stop and say to ourselves this is a complex stage Im undergoing but it shall pass. I am changing. We cant control the physical of this disease but we have 100% control of our minds. When we stop focusing on the bad of this disease and instead look at it as a stage of complexity and change; we change our frame of minds. However we personally go thru our journeys; fighting for a cure, embracing our change, or content just being; we need to have the courage and faith to see that today will pass.
