My first bout with AA was in my 20's with AU following at age of 35.  A great paternal aunt was said to have had sporadic AA in adulthood.  2 of my 3 Children have AA since childhood but it's been managed.  My 3rd child has never had AA.  What I can say is that my children with AA have my support, don't feel alone and know that their father and I always understand and normalize it as much as possible.  My understanding is that although there is a genetic link, most people with AA don't have a family history.  Hit or Miss like so many other disorders.  There is so much about AA that is uncontrollable at this time although I'm confident that a successful treatment is coming soon.  I think the best we can do is enjoy our lives to the fullest and take it as it comes.  Best of Luck, Hugs.
