I consider myself a spiritual person, and often find myself in prayer for my daughter's Alopecia. But I often wonder, am I praying for the right thing? What are others praying for? How should I pray? Please check out/join my new group, "The Prayer Group" if you are an Alopecian in need of or wanting to pray.

For my daughter I pray this every night over her, "Lord please heal her of this. Take these spots from her. I have faith in You. God you have said in James 5:14 'Is anyone of you is sick? He should call on the elders of the church to pray over him and annoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make he sick person well.' Lord if you choose not to give her a complete healing, please give us the strength to get through it. Lord help Ramsey become a healthy, happy, confident, Christlike person -who shows your compassion and love to everyone she meets."

We did have her annointed bt the elders of our church, and I do believe God may heal her.

I pray everyday to a point where I am having a conversation with God. I just speak whatever is on my heart and most of the time it is for strength to face my hair loss issue, healing of my health and for my children not go through what I am going through with my hair loss. I used to pray for the return of my hair as well until I realized that I may be praying for the wrong thing, so I started praying by first saying thanks to God, and tell Him how grateful I am for all that He has done for me and is currently doing for me. Tammy your comment is so touching. My prayers go out to your daugther and everyone else that is suffering from hair loss like me. All we need is the strength and courage to overcome hair loss and everything else will follow.

Good Morning Kayreyn, I have been bald since 4 years old, 46 years. I don't pray for my hair, because I know God has a purpose, but with that said, my daughter lost hearing in one ear as a child and had many surgeries, and eventually had an eardrum replacement. I did pray for God, my savior to watch over her and give her strength because I too knew he had a plan for her as he did me. I know how tough it is being a child with baldness, but with your strength guidance and love, she will make it - trust me as my dad always taught me, "The truth shall set you free." I have a lot of my story on my website www.iwearawig.com. Hope you can visit or chat on my live chat. Always tell her she can do anything if she sets her mind to it and tell her daily how beautiful she is. My prayers are with you both.

Wow, all of your posts are so inspirational and uplifting. I pray often, but sometimes feel that I don't have the right words, or maybe not praying for the right thing. Your comments truly help, and all of you are in my prayers tonight!

I pray often, as God is my closest and dearest friend. I pray for the safety and health of my children and family, and of course all my friends. When I first showed signs of alopecia I did pray for my hair back, but as Nicole said I realized this was the wrong thing to ask for. If I am going thru this, it is for a reason. Throughtout all my trials; alopecia, depression, the loss of my brother, everyday tribulations, the only thing that has kept me going is remembering on poignant thing "God NEVER gives us more than we can handle. You just have to have faith and trust in Him

I started out praying for hair and then it turned into please don't let anymore hair fall out and now it's please give me the strength to deal with this and help others learn about this disease. There is a beautiful poem that helped me change my prayers - Gethsemane by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. It has helped and continues to help me find the strength.

Thanks Susan, I actually hadn't read this blog in a while, but it is nice to re-read the posts and get inspiration. Since I originally posted, I think my prayers have changed a bit too. I now pray for direction and guidance. I pray for everyone affected by this disease, as I know the pain and discouragement can be overwhelming, and I pray for their pain to be replaced with peace.

Thank you Val for telling me about the poem.....its deep. I did not know Gethsemane was the garden
East of Jerusalem and was the scene of His agony and betrayal.

Gethsemane
By Ella Wheeler Wilcox

In golden youth when seems the earth
A Summer-land of singing mirth,
When souls are glad and hearts are light,
And not a shadow lurks in sight,
We do not know it, but there lies
Somewhere veiled under evening skies
A garden which we all must see --
The garden of Gethsemane.

With joyous steps we go our ways,
Love lends a halo to our days;
Light sorrows sail like clouds afar,
We laugh and say how strong we are.
We hurry on; and hurrying, go
Close to the border-land of woe,
That waits for you, and waits for me --
For ever waits Gethsemane.

Down shadowy lanes, across strange streams,
Bridged over by our broken dreams;
Behind the misty caps of years,
Beyond the great salt fount of tears,
The garden lies. Strive as you may,
You cannot miss it in your way.
All paths that have been, or shall be,
Pass somewhere through Gethsemane.

All those who journey, soon or late,
Must pass within the garden's gate;
Must kneel alone in darkness there,
And battle with some fierce despair.
God pity those who cannot say,
Not mine but thine, who only pray,
Let this cup pass, and cannot see
The purpose in Gethsemane.

as like many have replied, I used to pray that my hair would one day return but now I hardly ever do that...because it turned out that alopecia is more of a blessing to me personally than an inconvenience...so I thank the LORD for it...but I wouldnt pray for my hair to fall out again if God decides to cure all of us...May His will be done.

God bless.
