Well, I am not sure about Canada, but there is an organization well known in the states called Locks of Love. However, you might have to grow it out a little longer for them to accept it. They only will take unprocessed hair at a certain length if I am correct. Each organization might accept different lengths. You could call the hair salons in your area, and ask if any of them work with organizations to donate hair. You are doing a great thing!

What an amazing gift!!! I am also in Canada and accept hair donations which I then forward to Freedom where they will turn it into a Freedom Wig. My company is on my page and you can message me if you want. Wherever you decide to donate, you are giving someone an amazing present.

I was not aware hair could be donated to Freedom. Does Freedom then use the donated hair to make a wig for someone who could not otherwise afford one or maybe for a child?

Does anyone know if the locks of love wigs are free to children?

This is what it states on the Locks of love website:
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Q. What do the children pay for these hairpieces?
A. We provide hairpieces and repairs free of charge or on a sliding scale based on the financial need of those responsible for the children.

check out the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, them might be ablae to help. I'm sure they would have an updated list of places you can donate to.
