Hi Casee,
Each case is different.
In my case I have had white fuzz for about 18 months. It is slowly getting progressivly more diffuse and darker without bald patches. Nothing major but I can tell there is more hair each time I buzz my head. Which is about every 3 days.

Coincidentally I was googling my meds since my bald patches have now been joined by general thinning. I take Diovan for BP, Simvastatin (or Zocor) and celebrex. I found that Simvastatin can cause immumologic responses (which is apparently what is causing my AA - an autoimmune reaction to my hair follicles). Also found the following pertinent to what you seem to be describing - hair that never gets past the "fuzz" stage:
A relatively large number of drugs can cause “telogen effluvium,” a condition where hair is shifted into a resting stage and then several months later shed. Fortunately, this shedding is reversible if the medication is stopped, but the reaction can be confused with genetic female hair loss if not properly diagnosed.

thanks for the info....I'm not on any meds, so I can't really relate it to anything in particular....so my hair may not get past the fuzz stage?..(its weird you can just pull the fuzz off..lol)

some of my peach fuzz has turned into darker spots that are my real hair color. I have totalis, but I noticed that a while ago my head was totally shiny--then I started getting some peach fuzz in certain areas and not others...then some of that peach fuzz has developed into little spots of actual hair. Not all of it, and it has taken a loonnnnng time, but it's more hair than I've had in a long time :)
