I have just stopped taking Yasmin after 3 years on it. Thought it was time to try being off hormones for a while and it's pretty scary what I've heard about those pills. In my case, it didn't have anything to do with my alopecia though, I started losing hair before I went on the pill. And I think the hair loss birth control can cause is androgenetic alopecia, not alopecia areata, which is auto-immune rather than hormone based.

I was on yasmin for 2 years and switched to yaz.
I started losing my hair (alopecia areata totalis) shortly after the switch to yaz.
When I quit taking it a year later, my hair loss completely reversed itself.
I have only had one bald spot since going off yaz and it was tiny.

I have an IUD now as a form of nonhormonal birth control.
Great results.
What has your experience been with yaz?

oh sounds scary, is it only these 2 pills that can cause this, or is it most pills,??
