Thank you Lexi! This is Raquel Welch Showstopper and the color is copper mahogany.  It is heat resistant so it can also be curled.

Hi Lexi! Thanks for reading my blog. Yes it seems many people do have problems keeping their synthetic wigs for longer than a few months. I have had experiences like this with other synthetics. And the Spicy was really on its last legs when it came around to that two year point, but I think the right kind of conditioner matched with the right kind of anti-frizz and straightener can really extend the life of an hd synthetic. I also trimmed it myself when the fraying got beyond repair, so it was a couple inches shorter by the end of its time... I plan on blogging about how I wash and treat my wigs to keep them lasting longer. Thanks for checking it out!

Hi Lexi,

The wig in those two photos is a Freedom Wig from Freedom Hair (custom vacuum sealed human hair piece). If you'd like to know more I can point you towards a very helpful lady from Freedom - And yes that is a real tattoo on my neck, thanks :)

I never discuss any of my health concerns with coworkers! Too much gossip. Yuck!

My hair loss pattern is typical of FFA, but my derm ordered blood work for the autoimmune antibodies that sometimes show up with this condition. I'm still waiting on that to come back. I see Dr. Lance Kane, but he mentioned that there's someone at USF who he might refer me to if I want to try any advanced/experimental therapies. I like Dr. Kane because he's curious and doesn't just dismiss my concerns (my GP just passed it off as age-related hair loss, even though I'm in my 30s) He's just suggested Vitamin D & Biotin supplements and Latisse for my eyebrows, none of which has worked for me. Thankfully I found a good eyebrow pencil that doesn't make me break out. And the hair on my scalp looks ok with good styling, so I haven't tried wigs yet.

Hi, Lexi. I'm in the Riverview/Brandon area, but work in (almost West) Tampa. My derm thinks I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. So far I've lost substantial portions of my eyebrows, with a little thinning noticeable along my hairline. And general thinning overall on my scalp. It's manageable with makeup. I'm having trouble imagining what it's like to wear wigs in this climate! I used to love these 80+ degree days, but I'm excited about it cooling off when it does now.

Been there. It still hurts. But they made me a better and stronger person. I've had guys in school do that, then years later asked me out. What an idiot!

They all are hot to me but not as hot as the prosthetic ones that are completely silicone. It's compares to a full lace wig which is basically what this is except around the edges. It's just top quality hair and hardly no shedding or tangling. I use organix shampoo from Walmart and that's all I use except a comb out conditioner - it's a 10.i occasionally flat iron it. For the money, it would be hard to find one of this quality. I've had all kinds. I have been wearing wigs since I was 13. I'm now 45. Go to my page and look at my photos. If you want more, let me know. And the people from lori's wig site are legite. I've been ripped off so many times. I trust them.

It is holding up great. I still am wearing the one I got 1 yr. ago. And my other is about 6 months old. I have to wear it everyday. It is the best that I've come across especially for the price. It was about 1200. I never blow dry, but I do flat iron it occasionally. I have pictures if u want to see. My profile picture is old. It's before I wore gemtress.

Hi Lexi,
We buy our daughter's wigs at Pierre Amelotte. They're costly, but last a couple years and can be styled, straightened and are very versatile. We've been getting them there for the last three years. They're also custom fitted.

I go to joseph paris in nyc on Madison avenue. Quite pricey but the do have nice wigs. I am actually looking for something that fits my budget more. Where are you from?

Thanks Lexi for your kind words. Your message was a lovely reminder to update my profile! I got married in July and I also purchased my first wig (although I'm still reluctant to wear it and I'm relying on my favourite baseball cap for now!). I thought my hair loss pattern was so strange, until I found some pics of ophiasis and finally was able to say "that looks like me!" It's nice to be a part of your group.

Lexi:
I liked my first Cyberhair, second and third not so much. It was maybe better than a $100 synthetic wig, but doesn't even come close to a Freedom Wig. I can't believe I waited as long as I did to buy one. I was so afraid Freedom would be hot and uncomfortable....but it's just the opposite. It's just like my contact lenses...I totally forget I'm wearing a wig!!! You will pay almost as much for a Cyberhair wig, as for a freedom piece, and they just aren't comparable!!!

Hi there,

Picture 5 is of my natural hair, before it all fell out...I've ordered a freedom though, and I'm hoping it will look pretty much the same. Thank you anyway! :)

Thanks for the nice comment Lexi. I don't know what the Sandra Wilson thing is about, I never responded as I'm quite suspicious of invitations like this unless I feel I have got to know the person first or they have an on line history and the contact is safe from scammers and spammers

Thank you for the comment, Lexi! :) Ahh, I wrote Matt yesterday and he replied today. I might actually buy a wig from him, though I'm not sure yet about the quality of remy hair, and whether I might get too hot. But I might just go for it. I really hope I'll like it. Would be sucha pity if I don't, and all the money spent o.O
