Hey Lexi :-)
I´m Mia from Germany. How are you doing?
I just saw your comment on my wall...sorry for my late reply. I haven´t been online for such a long time!!! I just needed some time to understand myself or something like that ;-).
You asked about my wig...the picture with the curly hair was the one before my hair loss started, so it was my real hair.
The other one is my wig. I stopped wearing it a few weeks ago and I´m wearing a scarf on my head. At first, it was really strange, but now I´m getting used to it. It exactly know what you mean when you say, you´re suffering from the summerheat. It felt so horrible sweating under my wig. But with my scarf, it fells much better!!!
What kond of wig do you wear?
Greeting from Germany!!!

Hahaa thaanks.. That post was sooo sweet! I bought soo many peices over the past 3 years.. I don't really look for any particular brands or anything like that. I go to a cosmetic store at a mall near me. And they're also pretty cheap so that's definitely a plus since I've seen some online which were absolutely rediculous!! Anyways, chat anytime. I love to talk!! Hehe (:

Hi Lexi,
I will be in Daytona, Orlando and Tampa, FL on and around November 5 to 10, 2010. Are you close to any of these areas? You could come and take a look.
The Gripper and Cool Solutions does not come styled. Taking care if the piece is simple, perspiration does break down the netting. This is a true statement for all net pieces. If it you have been working our or running you perspire more. You will need to clean the piece. Also taking care of the hair is shampooing and condition and once a month deep conditioning. Making sure you rinse out the shampoo and the conditioner well. This is ti make sure there is not any residue left in the netting.
email me at cwestgb@aol.com if you would like to see the pieces.

Lexii: Go on the internet and check out the Beauty Trends wigs website. They have beautiful wigs in light shades, and they are high quality. I hope that helps.

Lexi, it just feels so much different than a regular wig because it is suctioned to your head and looks real. No glue, no worry that if you trip and fall or do it cart wheel that it will fall off. I wear it from the time I get up until bedtime. If you ever spend the night w/ someone and don't want them to know you have Alopecia it will NOT fall off during the night and you can sleep in it. I have no hair so it fits better w/ suction because a regular wig will move around on my bald head if I don't tape it. I had some very thin hair and when I shaved it, it never came back. So you do what feels better for you. It weras great I don't even know it is there at times.

On an Amy's Presence the sides lay almost on your check bones, it comes down way to far. I have a Freedom wig w/a vaccume. It fits great and looks more real, NO one can tell that it is a wig unless I tell them. My second one should be ready soon. You can color, curl cut what ever you like!!!! I have worm 3 types of wigs and will never waste my money again on something besides a Freedom wig.

Thanks, Lexi for the nice compliments! That really means a lot to me. :) I wear Freedom wigs, which are vacuum wigs made out of European unprocessed hair. If you have any questions about them, please feel free to ask. There is a Freedom wigs group on here also which is a wonderful source of info on them as well. ~Take care & thanks again :)

Lexi,
I did have super thick red hair yes but I ended up shaving it on August 29th. I was just losing so much so fast and my spots were so big that I couldnt take it anymore. So away the hair went. Thank you for the kind words. Shaving my head was the most freeing experience thus far in my life.

Thanks Lexi! It's always good to hear that. The "redheaded" me is a synthetic wig, the "Scorpio" from Revlon. Oddly enough, it's an inexpensive, standard cap wig, but I get compliments ALL the time. I just came home from the grocery store, and the woman in front of me at check out couldn't stop raving about how great my hair was, where did I get it done, etc. I think if people took a closer look, they'd know it was a wig, but for now, I'm ok with the the compliments. I have a new wig on order but haven't received it yet. Another auburn color, but different style, by Noriko. I do have a $1000 human hair standard cap wig that I NEVER wear because I'm not happy with the style or the maintenance involved. I wish I could afford one of these expensive vacuum or gripper wigs that everybody is talking about, but that's off the radar for now. I would rather have multiple less expensive wigs and lots of variety than one $3000+ wig. At least for now.

Dontcha just love those dogs of mine?? They are so sweet and great companions. They love me not matter what and could care less about my hair!

Hey Lexi! Well I am on a regimen of different vitamins, I don't eat certain foods, I get acupuncture treatments, and more. However, what I'm supposed to stay away from (ex. gluten) could be different from what you need to avoid. My best advice is to find someone who can help you go that route. You'll need tests done like delayed response allergies, what's going on in your gut, metals, vitamins, etc. I couldn't tell you what would help you because I don't know what's causing your hair loss, which is almost guaranteed to be different than mine. I totally get where you're coming from because originally I went to dr.s and derms who told me I was stressed when I was just a college kid who had a GREAT first semester (it just didn't add up!). So hopefully you can find someone in your area who can steer you the natural way! Hope this helps :)

California...and those gardens and palms were at the state fair, not far from me (Sacramento). This summer I had to teach summer school, so my own garden did not go in! However, I have been doing organic gardening for most of the last 15 years. Yep: I need to find out if they make bird and squirrel barriers to go over sunflower seeds on the plants!

Hi Lexi - thanks for the comments. I have had nothing but happiness in the wig-buying department :) The bob that you like I got from a wig seller here in Australia. It is a Judy wig (I think New York based?) and I don't know its name. The long hair is a Yaffa multidirectional ponytail wig from the yaffawigsoutlet.com online store. The lady that I dealt with, Samantha, was very helpful and I got exactly what I wanted. I wish you the best of luck! xoxo Mish

Haha, thanks Lexi! I guess you can tell from my pictures that I like wigs? I'm thinking of getting a baby pink one (like pinkish-white) that would go past my shoulders. I think that part of why I'm not heartbroken over my alopecia is because I've always loved wigs so much.
But anyway, nice meeting you! You seem like a cool girl yourself! =)

Hi! Yes, you need to be bald to wear a vacuum piece, otherwise it won't stay put. My head gets a bit sweaty in the summer, but for the most part I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me too much. The cap on mine is very thin, which is great for comfort and look, but doesn't last quite as long...so it can be a bit more expensive in the long run. For example, my current piece is about 2 years old and it's starting to tear around the edge. It can be repaired, but I'm waiting on my new one right now, which I should get in the next month so I'm making do until then. If I were to rate it overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10! No one EVER knows I'm wearing a wig...not only that but they tend to forget about it even AFTER I tell them. lol

Same story here sweetie! It's been a rollercoaster literally for 22 years of my life. My friends and family always thought I was a basket case because it would fall out so much and no could tell it because I had SO much. But now that is a different story. I have so many health problems. I thought it was my thyroid but now my levels are good, thought it was inflammation from my AS, but that is being treated, blah, blah, blah....so tired. Wish I was brave enough to shave it, run outside and scream, "I am free at last!!!!" The tough part of the battle is trying to make yourself better and failing at it because it is completely out of our control. I tell myself this must be the way God wants me so everyone just needs to deal with it, but then I can't deal with it myself. I am up then I'm down.....so tired. My immune system is also suppressed from the shots I have to take so days like today I feel like I can't do it anymore. Then you see your pals on Facebook complaining about the traffic!!!! ewwwwwww!!!!

I have seen that website before one day. They have a pretty good selection. I haven't seen any of the Revlon wigs! I'll have to look them up. I just got a ROP wig and I'm already thinking about which one I want next!! I'm hooked! Lol.
Hope you are doing well

It was about $1800 -- she does them at very reasonable prices.
I also wear a Rene of Paris synthetic wig called Brandy in Butterscotch color. It's on me in the photos of me with the little boy. I get them at a discount on www.wigsalon.com!

Thank you! It is my nickname from when I was little. I actually have been admiring "Infatuation" by Raquel Welch for a while now. I really like it. I noticed it was a Mono. Maybe I will make that my 1st Mono. I actually have a large head so I can't wear just anything. Regarding the shine... I try not to worry or think about how shiny my wig looks. The majority of people that I see on a daily basis know I wear a wig so the shine doesn't bother me. And I don't think it is so bad in person. Seems like it is much worse in pictures with a flash than pictures without a flash. Hope you have a good day
