Hey,
every newbie needs some encouragement, so was playing the motivator.

Bangalore, I must say its an amazing city, and its highly cosmopolitan..therefore one easily gels with the city's atmosphere. It really is the IT hub of India, almost all the big names have their shops here. Weather wise too, Bangalore I would rate as one of the best places amongst the other metros.

Work brought me to Bangalore, I was brought up in a Calcutta, an author called it the city of joy:).
Here's the story, completed my bachelor's in engineering from Calcutta and got a job in Bangalore..so its been like 3.5 years in Bangalore now. My siblings stay here as well, so its like a home away from home.

India, is so vibrant and so diverse, am sure you would be left awestruck and it would be an exhilarating experience for you. I guess it would be your first visit to India, I so very wish you good times here *g*.

I had been to Germany almost a year ago, our company has its HQ in Walldorf, a small town in Baden Wuttermberg. I went to Mainz, Frankfurt and St. Leon Rot, Mannhiem, Heidelberg..also some adjoining cities, which I dont remember. Best part of the trip was traveling to Bratislava from Frankfurt and then hitting Wien(Vienna). One of my cousin stays in Vienna, so it was fun going there and meeting his friends and so on. I did some wine tasting in Germany, a place called St. Martin's...and that was something exotic.

Super, du sprachen deutsch ? Ich bin lernen deutsch. - You know what, I speak a little bit of Deutsch :p, I was taking german lessons at my workplace. So you have roots attached to germany? Thats kool, I have a lot of German friends..it would be nice to know more about germany from you. So where all have you been in Germany?
Hey I tried several types of beer; Dunkel, Hiefe Wizen, Vetter 33(world's strongest beer..)..and loads more, am a big time beer fan:o).

I wish you a very happy Easter, have fun.

Cheers,
Shekhar

Natalie-Thanks for your compliments!! Being open and positive about my alopecia has seemingly been the key to my success and I couldn't be happier!! I read on your about me that you're going to shave your head and get a wig, and I must say that shaving your head will be quite a great experience! I love it, and it feels very unique unlike anything you've probably ever felt. I look forward to getting to know you as well, and thanks for the friend request =) I always love meeting new people.

Natalie, Your comments are so kind. Thanks for finding me. I love surrounding myself (even virtually) with people who choose to have and share positive energy. My family including parents and 2 siblings were there when I shaved my head and they were wonderful. Let us know how it goes.

Natalie,

Sounds like we have tried similar things! I've been to several holistic docs and tried many supplements and homeopathic remedies. And it does get expensive!! I ended up feeling like I got more from acupuncture- so I probably did the most of that.

I have not tried a no gluten diet- It's been recommended. That is just so hard! Who knew that gluten is in everything I love! go figure! But I think I might have to buckle up and try that!

Thanks for the compliment on Bentley! your dog sounds cute too- they are really are the best aren't they? Love you no matter what! It's kind of both funny and sad but often I find long blonde hairs stick to the bottom on Bentley's paws! oh well- he does not complain!

how's the training for the marathon going? I find that so impressive!! Here in my neighborhood there is a kayak group- will start in May. But it is leisure!...more paddling around laughing and sharing a drink. ( I little more my speed) :)

Have a good evening,
Heather

Hi again,
No mine isn't a lace wig just a reg synthetic one. I love it!

It's very easy just plop it on and go. My daughters think it's so funny.
I think we will really like the vacuum wig though casue it looks so real. Have you looked at her site and the other women on this site with them.
Are you coming out here to meet her?
I will post pic's when i get mine in and cut and ready to wear.
I know mom's are really hard to deal with. My mom still thinks my hair is coming back and it will be normal again. It may but for right now it's not. The shedding has slowed down but no regrowth. And i told her just becasue i shave it if it's going to grow back it will shaving wont stop it. All i have to do is not wear my vacuum for a few day and see what grows in.
you should take a look at Mandy from Chicago her hair grew back after a year.

I say never give up hope but don't let if control what you do. I'd rather have beautiful hair then try to cover up the blad areas with what i do have.

Hey Natalie,

Well thanks but it took me a while to get to this point. Actually attending the Bald Girls Lunch really helped me. Meeting other women in the area made me feel like i had other to help me through it.

I actually have the same hair loss as you it's called Ophaisis pattern i can grow a awesome mohawk but that's not me.

I actually am getting a vacuum wig in the next few weeks it's due in next week if it's on time. I am getting it from Karne P. I can't wait/

Well I have gone through this 2 times. The first time I let my hair control me and was so sad and depressed all the time. I shaved it off and started the injections and my hair grew back. I started falling out again but i wasn't going to sit and watch it everyday come out so off it went and it was a release for me.
My mom was upset i shaved it, but when you have hardly any hair and you have to worry about it showing and how your going to cover it. I'd just rather wear a wig.
I got my wig from Rene of Paris it was under a 100 dollars and now i get my vacuum Yeah!!!

Thanks for the add.
Whoa, your Hindi is quite impressive, and I can so very see the zeal to learn the language :o) .
Let me first reply in Hindi to your question 'hal bilkul acha hai, shukriya' means, am doing pretty well, thanks !!
Ah, nice to know that you would be applying to TCS for internship, my area of work revolves around Information Technology too, I work with SAP in Bangalore. Haha, palak paneer...am sure you do love it, and I bet our good old Popeye would love it too !!
Am infact glad to hear from someone out of the blue, am getting along well with AT, though I have some remains of hair on my scalp...they seem to have parted off from the rest of my body.
My wishes for your new wig and am sure that would mean a more confident and vibrant Natalie. Worry not, after all hair isn't everything, but am glad that because of this condition, we get to meet people across nationalities :) !
You have fun and keep in touch.

Cheers,
Shekhar

Hi Natalie!

Nice to "meet" you. I enjoyed reading your profile.

great attitude you have- it is so refreshing! I have also tried Reiki and acupuncture. I always feel better for it and enjoy going! I am not sure it has done much with my AA- put who knows where I'd be if I didn't try it? So hard to tell in that department! I also have in my area a manual physical therapist (hands on healing) and that it great too-

Have a great day,
Heather

Hello, thanks for the add. This is the first time in almost 7 years that I have reached out to the alopecia community.
Well, I wear a wig from HairArt. It is custom fit to my head and is attached by a type of tape. I can do basically everything in it. The company I bought it from says that you can swim in it and you can. But you have to be careful the tape will weaken in the water.
Hope all is well and that you find a wig that fits your needs and allows you to feel at ease.

I wear a custom made lace wig that I secure with tape. I'm comfortable doing all types of exercising in my wig. The only thing I can't do is go under water, but I hear you can do that with a vacuum wig. Although I've worn a wig for years and years I just joined this site about 3 months ago and I'm learning so much about wigs. I've been looking into the vacuum wigs too. I've heard a lot of good things about Freedom vacuum wigs. They can come in a longer length than the Peggy Knight ones. Look up Lee and Rose Marie on my friends list. Lee wears a freedom vacuum and has pics even of the inside on her page. Rose Marie is a consultant for Freedom in New Zealand and her daughter wears one too.

Hey Natalie, thanks for the add. So i wanted to know if you had shaved off your hair yet? I have thought about it but still dont have enough confidence to do it. I just ordered my first wig and its a 3/4 topper because i still have some hair. Let me know how you are doing. Erin

Hey thanks for the add! I'm 19 and have had alopecia since I was 12 or 13. My story sounds just the same as yours so far.. only a few patches that grow in themselves after a few months. I am hopeful that's what it will stay like but the more and more stories I read on here it doesn't look like that's going to happen! Good luck with your wig, I'm sure it will look and feel great!
