Hi Gymtee,
I want to let you know about the National Bald Out Event at Big Surf on July 19th. This will be fun for everyone. Hope you and your family can come. Check out the flyer that is posted on the website.

Hi Gymtee, Hope all is well for you and your family. I was just scanning the site and remembered your son (my son is 9). How's things going? Casey got full regrowth in all areas but as soon as that came in he began losing the rest (unfortunately the entire top of his head). But the kids are strong. Anyway, Happy Holidays Margie
hi, gymtee hope your son braving up ok... does very much look like alopecia..very similar to how mine started many moons ago aged 14, im very sure with the correct steroid injections it will totally grow back as mine did....although i did then get several bouts of patches again from time to time..but normally could cover them over..with dodgy 80's hairstyles haha...main thing i can say is keep him active and mind occupied...at his age now it shouldntbeto difficult for you to do this...just so know, it wont necessarly effect other brother as i had a twin brother who never got it...stay safe and ask awayif you need to know anything.
Hi gymtee,
Yes, I am the contact person in AZ for NAAF. Nice to meet you here in Alepecia World! I know that it must be a very hard adjustment for your son, and your family right now. I agree that it will help a lot if your son can meet other kids like him. We will be having a support group meeting on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 10:00am. Please email me w/ your info, and I will send you the rest of the details about the meeting. Also, feel free to call me anytime. You can find my # through NAAF. sgomez33@cox.net
Oh, I will also be posting the meeting details on the 'Alopecians in Arizona' group page.
That sucks that the electrical storms are practically gone. I remember so many nightly summer storms. It was awesome to sit out on the porch with a cold beverage and hope ypu didn't get struck by lightining. Lol
My Dad lives in Chandler and my Mom is in Gilbert.
I lived in AZ for 5 years. I love the Monsoon Season but I hear it isn't as dramatic as it used to be do to global warming. Do you find this true?
Crocker Amazon is just over the hwy 280 from Ingleside Terrace.
Hi Gymtee, My son is 9 and lost 75% of his hair in a couple of months this summer. As there seem to be fewer young boys (or parents of) on this site if you ever need to chat I'm a holler away. Or, if you son would like to chat with another boy just let us know.
Hello Gymtee, Welcome to AlopeciaWorld, I would have to agree with Lauren that your son def has the possiblity of Alopecia, My daughter was 3 when she was finally diagnoised with it...Notice first bald spot in Nov of 2004 and by end of Dec she was completely bald, her hair lost was pretty rapidly, like your son. This is a wonderful site and a great support group exspecially on them days when you are feeling hopeless and confused. I hope you all the best and would love to hear from you soon. Maria
Hi Gymtee, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us and we look forward to your input. Cheryl, co-founder
