Hi Brandy,
I have 3.4 years old son who has AA since he was 2. he is so smart and sometimes he talks about it, and sometimes he says he wants his hair come back.
there is no kid around us with same situation, and I am wondering if it's a good idea to talk about it and show him some pictures of the other kids, or not?
I don't want to make it a big deal for him but at the same time I want him to know he is not the only one with out hail in the world.
What should I do?
thanks and take care of yourself and your beautiful kids,
~Azi
Hi Brandy, my daughter, 16 mo old, started losing her hair at 13 mo. I was so excited to see your post! She has AA now, but still losing it. Someone the other day said to me something about it, so I know its noticable to the world now, though she is so young people just think she is a baby still (she's pretty small anyway). I have read lots on AA, and the most scary thing is when I read that AA is not physically harmful, but "psychologically devistating." Then they don't go on to explain it. How have you coped? Do you have any insight for me so that I can help my daughter? She is only 1 so she has no idea, but I know I can start instilling things in her to help her from the start. And my son too, he is almost 4, and I want to help him to always be kind to her, my brother was rarely kind to me, and I have strong opinionsthat family should never ridicule family for anything, esp physical. I'm wondering if its a pro or a con to have this condition all along, as opposed to the shock of developing it when your older. Thank you for any help you may have for me. I've lost the initial shock, so I'm not crying daily. But I noticed 3 hairs falling out and it set me off for the whole day. :( Angie
hi there, i came across your page and i have a question for you. did you experience any regrowth when you were pregnant? love all your pics by the way! your kids are adorable! jenn
Thank you for adding me as a new friend! So what kind of wigs do you wear? I like long hair myself. My color is usually a 4 or 6. I have been wearing just the regular lace wigs. But I have just recently ordered a vaccuum wig. I am so excitedd about that. I'll post a pic when I get it (in about 4-6 months). I know, it takes a long time to get them. So do you work?
HI, I'm fairly new here and I came upon your page through the BGDL group. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi! Your baby is sooo cute, by the way. I was diagnosed w/ AA at 10 months old, and lost it all at age 5. So, we probably have very similar experiences. Did you lose all your hair at 17 months? Or was it gradual?(sp?) Looking forward to forging a new frienship w/ you. Hope to hear from you soon! :) Sarah
Hi Brandy,
YESS! It's Saturday morning, the kids are watching cartoons on TV so I have a minute ;-)
My girls see me all the way with bandana, scarf, hats, bald and with my wig on. However, since I quit my job 2 years ago, they rarely see me with my wig on... most of the time, I'm wearing a bandana. I only wear my wig for special occasion.... so special that the last time I perfumed myself, my youngest said I was smelling like a wig ;-)
My oldest daughter (5.5. yo) has told me she wishes I had hair because I would then be more beautiful. I was extremely surprised by her remark since she has always knew me bald... I guess she would like to have a more 'normal' mummy but hey, she will be stuck for the rest of her life with an imperfect one!
Diane
Acutally, those pictures of me and the newborns are my niece and nephew, born 2 weeks apart on 7/14/07 and 8/02/07. I don't have any kids, so my nieces and nephew are my babies!!!
