Hi Gina,

My name is Cindy and I have a 6 yr old daughter with Alopecia. I think her hair loss has been harder on me then her. She wears a wig and does not seem to mind it. Her hair started growing in June, but we still have a long way to go. I see that you tried most kids of wig, but cyberhair. Sam's first wig was an Amy Presence Cyberwig. The hair was not bad, but it was high maintanace. Sam recently got her first wig for the hair club for men and she loves it, mostly in part because it gave her, her old look back. How are your kids dealing with their Alopecia. Samantha has really embraced it and is unphased. I am sorry to read that two of you kids are dealing with. You all must be a great support system for each other. take care, Cindy

Dear Gina:
With having so much experience with alopecia and having a daughter that is quite close in age with mine, I wondered if I could ask you some questions some time? Thank you in advance,
Cynthia (B.C.,Canada)

Hello Gina,
First of all I want to say your kids are adorable!!!
My name is Maria and I have a 6yr old daughter also and she is the one with AU, her name is Savanna...she has had it since she was 3yrs old, we do not do any treatments at this time, but I am strongly considering trying something, but I havent totally convinced myself yet that it would be best for her. Savanna is a well adjusted with her condition but she has had several bad experiances with this disease. She too doesnt often wear wigs only when she is playing or take the notion to put one on in the house...but in public it is only HATS!!!

love to talk...Maria

Great! Please let me know how you like my book, okay? You can get it on www.Amazon.com or www.leslieannbutler.npauthors.com.
I know, the glue-down thing doesn't appeal to me...I haven't tried it but I don't like the idea of wearing a wig 4-6 weeks straight -- I like to keep my scalp clean and when stuff is glued to it, how can you do that?
A lot of people swear by the vaccuum wigs. You can choose either the soft, flexible base as well or the hard base. I never got one of those because my head gets so hot. I alternate between human hair with poly base (which is also hot), human hair with a silicone covered netted base -- which is nice and cool), and the synthetics which are very cool and easy.

Hi Gina,
Yes, there are a lot of wigs -- I think it's best to have both human hair and synthetic. I love synthetic for travel and when I am working out, because it is so easy to clean and there's no styling. Human hair other times.
Well, I just wanted to say hi and find out how you and Boni are doing today!

You are such a good mother...brave and strong. My daughter is in Kinder as well and I have met a liitle boy in Kinder that has your condition as well. he was born with no hair and it is genetic. He is brave and outgoing just like your daughter. I guess our children will grow up confident as Alopecia is so recognised these days. There is no school that has four kids with alopecia over here so it is definitely more open nowadays.

Have you heard of the Freedom wig. I think they are the best....

Welcome to AlopeciaWorld! I personally like human hair wigs because I can style them. When I wore wigs and weave, it was human hair.
