I have watched this video many times when I felt like giving up. I also just finished reading a book entitled, "Have You Felt Like Giving Up Lately?"...which really helped my spirit a lot. I admire this guy so much. I am only saying I am envious that I can't get achieve that attitude just yet. I guess being sick and in excruciating pain 24/7 compounds all the problems and makes it seem overwhelming at the moment....maybe some day.

True - you have a lot more going on than just alopecia and my heart goes out to you. Even the strongest spirit can grow weak sometimes. His message is about recognizing self-worth and persistence. You can bet he has had plenty of days where he felt like giving up! He decided to put his story to good use by helping others - I'm glad he did!

Wow...thanks for posting this video. Made me cry, but also reminded me to be thankful that my daughter only lost her hair, and we aren't losing her. Sometimes I just need to be reminded to keep things in perspective and be thankful for the MANY things we do have.

So awesome! I wish everyone could look at life this way.

I've seen Nick live twice now (at a Christian music festival in California, Spirit West Coast), and every time I hear him, whether in person or on video, it amazes me how he is able to acknowledge his challenges and then move on! In person, and I suppose on longer video clips, Nick refers back to his condition - but not for people to feel sorry for him or to feel sorry for themselves, but, rather, to give him the authority from which to speak! If he were not living to the fullest this particular life he was handed he would have no say in mine... or in anyone else's for that matter. Where he is gives him the right to speak. So for those who are struggling with self-acceptance - stay in the struggle! That means you haven't given up! The only way AA can defeat you is if you give it permission. Having a bad day (or two, or three, or....)? Good. Again, that means that you're still alive and that Hope is still possible. I realize that neither my words nor the words of anyone else here are going to immediately soothe your pain, but perhaps somewhere deep within - deeper than you've ever gone before - something will stir. And then the next time you hear or read about some 'poor pitiful person' who is persevering even though you are not... that stirring will get stronger. And stronger. And stronger. Nick's message is good and true and worth sharing. Stay in the fight! And remember that your AW friends are here to help and support you. Fight on, beloved!

Great post. Thanks from one Pam to another. You are right, every day is a new day of hope and choices. Today was a little easier, maybe this will become a pattern, hopefully. Hugs!

Great comments, Pam. He makes me want to purchase the full video so I can watch it when I am in one of those slumps. What a great inspiration he is.
