Yep. That girl getting the shots was me in high school and in my early 40s. I hated those shots, and reacted the same as her in the derm's office and afterward (felt like a dang guinea pig). When insurance wouldn't pay for treatments and I had kids to feed, I decided to stop, wear the wig, use the money for more important things, and just get on with life. I hear transplants do not work for alopecia, because the cause is within and can just make the new hair fall out. Waiting for The Final Answer from the scientific community...

hmmmm, i was surprised to see actual shots, because when i used to get it done, sometime in the 80's (cant remember exactly, it was so long ago), they didnt actually use needles. It was a little gun like thing, that used air to inject the cortizone right under the skin, so I would end up with tons of little welts on my scalp and they would do 30-50 or sometimes more in one sitting. Dong get me wrong, it hurt too, but for some reason I dont remember it being too too painful. ??
