The View upset quite a few members of Alopecia World this week. After announcing that the newly crowned Miss Delaware Kayla Martell has alopecia areata, the show's hosts veered into a discussion about whether black or white women look better bald! After viewing this controversial clip, please share your thoughts. If you would like to send feedback directly to the View, go here.

I agree with comments about "not being offended" I agree with Susan maybe they need to come out to either one of our conferences or @Thea maybe you can invite the view to one of your lunches/networking gathering??? People perish for lack of knowledge - if you don't know and don't ask you remain dumb about things, that's just the way things are sometimes.

I have to say this didn't bother me at all. I do think they missed a great opportunity to talk about alopecia, though. I thought they might also talk about whether or not she should compete in the Miss America pageant with or without the wig. Missed opportunity, but not offensive to me.

Those folks have mastered the art of missing the point. Lets make this a learning moment. The show is often merely gossip--not much to it.

Nope, can't really say that I was offended by it. It is true. Black women do look much better bald than white women and for some reason they carry themselves off so well. Which is not to say that white women do not look good without a wig - it's just you notice them as being, well 'bald'. Also, they were talking about in the context of the show. I dont think that we need to take any offence.

I wasn't bothered by it. It was a silly conversation. It is too bad that the TV personalities couldn't educate the public on Kayla's condition more than just briefly mentioning alopecia.

That ugly red-headed dude said white women without hair look weird...newsflash YOU'RE UGLY!
Both baldness and ugliness can't be helped besides, they are totally subjective...some people here may think that guy is hot, who knows. Can't shape other's perceptions.
I wasn't actually overly offended...it's true...there aren't many of us 'coneheads' walking around. These people are trying to entertain audiences and if you've ever watched the show before you know full well they rarely think before speaking.

I think that those who ARE offended by this video, are the ones who have yet to accept their alopecia.

I think they should all shave their heads, take all makeup off, and their push up bras, and apologize to all people who have Alopecia. Making dumb cone head jokes is unacceptable. If we were Quadriplegics' could they make fun of how the look or act? If it was breast cancer, would they have the right to make a dumb joke about it. Hell No! They are not being sensitive to the Health issue part. I love Whoppi, and I've watched the View and respected them, however, I won't be wasting my time ever again. Shame, shame shame! "Coneheads"

Glad to see I'm not the only alopecian who didn 't find this offensive. The Coneheads were frickin cool by the way! I guess I'll always have a softspot for those SNL aliens since I went on my first real date to the Coneheads movie and made out during the whole thing!
