"Wig'd Out" follows the real-life story of Olivia Rusk, a 19-year-old Fishers resident who developed alopecia at 18 months old.
The film, produced by Rusk's mother, Sandy Rusk, and directed by Kate Chaplin, is a dramatized version of Olivia Rusk's life. It tells the story of Rusk being entered into a beauty pageant by her well-meaning, former pageant queen mother. "Wig'd Out" gives viewers the opportunity to dig deeper into the relationship young women have with the concept of beauty, the journey to self-acceptance and the mother-daughter dynamic.
Rusk used her experiences to motivate other children as a Radio Disney host, an author and through her nonprofit organization, Olivia's Cause. She's appeared on local and national talk shows, including the "Today" Show. "Wig'd Out" had been in the works since 2007.

Great to see this condition in a film...a shaved head never ever looks like an alopecians head though...still...I'm just being picky...sorry, don't mean to be just how it is for me at the moment. But good on them for making this film.
Yes, that's great! I hope this helps people to understand.
(Though, I agree: a shaved head is not quite the same thing as a bald head...).
it's about time, it would be nice if the majority of people have at least head of alopecia, then the very long explanations wouldn't have to happen so often . the movie looks great can't wait to see it.
