i have been out of site for a few months, I guess when my son's girlfriend developed some horrific neurological problems due to a malfunctioning shunt, I totally forgot about my own issues (AU). Right now, sweet Jenae is spending her fourth week in the hospital; she is having complication after complication due to a replacement of a shunt she has had since childhood. Just when things start looking up, the shunt clogs and she is rushed into surgery. The last surgery has really knocked her bad. I… Continue

Skin feels weird, like a plucked chicken

Posted on August 31, 2009 at 5:49pm 2 Comments

as our chicago weather is starting to cool off, i am wearing a bit more clothes that i have during summer. I guess since my molting in the spring had progressed to full blown AU, i realize that my skin has gotten soooo terribly sensitive as fabric rubs against it. has anybody else felt this strange sensation? It is almost like my body down layed a cushion between my skin and my clothes and now it is all gone!!!!!!!! EGADSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! I really feel like a plucked chicken!

Now according to Dr. Oz.....I have a brain tumor?????????

Posted on July 21, 2009 at 11:08am 16 Comments

I know today's Oprah show was a rerun, God knows I had several people tell me months ago the revelation that my hair loss was caused by a brain tumor!!!!!!! I finally caught the episode where the infamous Dr. Oz scared the livin' crap outta this poor lady, telling her that her hairloss (oh, by the way, I'd give the world to have what she had) that she could possibly have a brain tumor causing it...........NOW....anything is possible in this crazy world, but he highly recommended her having a… Continue

I AM NOT SICK... I AM BALD!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted on June 17, 2009 at 9:58pm 1 Comment

Once again, being a hairdresser who hasn't any hair....just wearing a variety of cute wigs. I have an issue with people who think I am totally devastated by this disorder, devastated or hiding a terminal disease. I really think some of my clients would rather me be telling them that I lost my hair from cancer treatment, than to accept the fact that I, with hardly an explanation, just lost all my body hair. Today, a dear client of mine who hasnt seen me for a couple months, proceeded to sadly… Continue

YES it was an insane winter... over 80 inches for the season! We had a couple of blizzards with 25+ inches! Almost lost my little white dog! yikes!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING BRENDA!

So happy to hear Jenae is improving! She is lucky to have you in her corner!

OMG! I cannot believe the manners of that woman at the wedding! How rude! You are very kind to assume she had too much sauce! Sounds more like she needs a bottle of sauce to hit her upside the head!

so how do you like your wig? is it comfortable? hope so!

Enjoy the rest of today!!

Thanx for that - I've already looked at the Paula Young wigs web site, they look great. You say you hate wigs although you wear them - me too - the first thing I do when I get home is take off my wig & my shoes!!!
Keep in touch, all the best, Diana x

Thanks for your comments. Coming to terms with our hair loss in the beginnning is definitely the hardest bit is'nt it. I'll definitely look into the Paula Young wigs - they sound great. My wig in the photo is a lovely chestnut colour and I also have a shorter one which is called 'dark blonde with hazel highlights' so people definitely know its not mine. I think wigs look 'wiggy' on me and since the obviously choice for me was a grey one (my own hair had always been very dark brown but had developed into 'pepper and salt' prior to going) I thought I'd try something different. Shame I can't get a new face to go with them (lol) Keep in touch, Diana x

Hello Brenda!

OMG!! Talk about stress overload! I can't imagine how horrible that was to find your ex dead! Clear to see your trigger. I am so very sorry you had to go through that!! It's amazing what stress does to our bodies....

Hope you are doing OK. You seem to have such a great sense of humor-- I'm sure that plays a huge part in pulling you through it all!! :)

Thanks a million!! The thing that my white hairs are quite difficult...the semi permanent doesn´t stay in my hair..yes I agree with you,Brenda,I tried not to touch my hair so much because of the falling. Two more questions...can
a person bear a wig in Summer? Did people know about your wig? I´m a very insecure and sensitive person and I dont want to tell people my problem and face awful situations because of stupid people.
