Exercise?

Posted on June 18, 2009 at 11:44pm 3 Comments

Ok, so last week I saw a different doctor at my GPs, after my blood tests came back clear.

So I wanted to discuss my options with him.

So i asked if I could see a dermatologist and he said i could do, I asked about steroids he said they wouldnt help.

So I asked about accupuncture, and he said that was useless too, so I tried asking about caffeine based potions and minoxodil he said they dont work. He said all that will help is exercise.

Maybe he thinks this will help with my… Continue

My 1st Blog

Ok, so this is my first Blog on here. I maybe just need to vent abit.

Im feeling rather down, and glum.

I was diagnosed with alopecia almost a month ago. It was mainly the left side of my parting and I have been applying some caffeine stuff I bought from Boots, willing it to work.

Ive felt the last few days that my hair at the back felt thinner, so tonight I took a look and there seems to be a patch. So I cried my eyes out.

Im scared, and it all feels worse because I'm… Continue

Hi Christina.
No worries hope you are feeling better. How are you finding the site? If i'm ever having a down day i always come on here and it always makes me feel better.
I'm ok thanks. I've just had to buy a wig and i'm trying to get used to it. I still haven't plucked up the courage to leave the house in it yet.
Read your blog about exercise. I think maybe people are right in saying it won't necessarily make your hair grow back but it will help relieve stress and make you feel better. I find it gives me something else to focus on for a while.
If you need to talk ever just drop me a line.
Take care, Melinda :-) x

Hello and welcome, Chirstina!
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years (and I'm single, right now too!). Anyway, after I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" You can find out more on my page -- and it's available on this site under "Bookshelf." Let me know if there's anything else I can do!
