Silica for hair regrowth?

I have a friend who is a hairdresser. She has told me that silica supplements will help make the hair regrow for people with Alopecia.
Has anyone tried this?

Hi, I've also read that. I tried it, but not long enough to notice anything. And I'm trying like 5 different things at once so I wouldn't actually know if it was working or not. Have you tried it?

I've been trying it too - along with loads of other stuff and I do have some regrowth but new patches appear every couple of weeks.
