I just read the most interesting thing on CosmeticsCop.com, Paula Begoun's website:
Before you decide to consult a physician for a hair transplant procedure of any kind, keep in mind that any licensed physician in the United States and Canada can perform hair surgery. That means a doctor who was previously a gynecologist, without taking one course, could hang out a shingle tomorrow declaring him- or herself a hair transplant specialist. It is that easy, and it happens all the time. Because of this lack of licensing or course work requirements, it is easy to end up with disappointing and inferior results such as visible scarring, patching, fuzzy hair, or even more hair loss. Before you book an appointment, find out if the doctor you are considering is in good standing with the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS); contact them through their Web site at www.ishrs.org, or contact the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: (800) 332-3223 or www.plasticsurgery.org.
Now, I admit that all this is new to me. But how many of you already knew about "this lack of licensing and course work requirements?" Has this changed at all? And while I'm at it, what do you think of "Cosmetics Cop" Paul Begoun, if anything?

I knew about this -- it's just like plastic surgery -- if you are a licensed physician, you can put in breast implants! LOL

Seriously, the reality of this situation is that if it is a cosmetic procedure, as a hair transplant or anything related to hair restoration is, then just like liposuction, it is not going to be regulated.

Not sure what to think of Paul Begoun, by the way.

It is important to understand that ISHRS has allowed practically all specialties to do hair transplant. But at the same time you can find out about the experience of the surgeon from his or her patients. To curb such malpractices even ISHRS has issued a consumer alert to save the patients from being duped. The problem is even far more grave in countries like turkey where hair transplant is available even at salons. God save the people who get it done from such places!!

The Condition is even worse for Hair transplant in delhi. In the name of hair transplant many dental and even Mbbs doctors have started taking cases, this will only get worse with the time. Hair transplant should and must be done by Certified and Experienced Plastic surgeon only
