I'm considering becoming a full-time wig wearer, the problem is keeping them in place and secure seems to be fraught with difficulty. Fiddling around with double-sided tape is more hassle than its worth I've found, so is there a better way?

I'm thinking is there such a thing as a liquid glue, brushed on but easily removed, a bit like that copydex stuff from my school days that peels away in one piece.

My daughter tried the glue but it did not stay in place as well for her. She uses super tape and leaves the wigs on for 2-3 days. I think that makes the process easier because she does not have to change it everyday.
Hi Sarah, I got tired of the hassle and expense of the double-sided tape so I started using a product called It Stays Body Adhesive. It can be used on clothing and wigs. I find it much more convenient and for me it works pretty good. It comes in a clear roll-on bottle like a deodorant bottle. You can buy it online from $4+ to $7+ -- check different sites for sales, etc. It comes off with water. I run it on my scalp along the "hairline" of my scalp and let it dry for a few seconds so that it is more tacky than wet, then I place my wig on, press down a little, give a few tugs (you/someone would have to tug REALLY hard to pull it off, and then off I go. Even though it does not tug off easily, it is still easy to remove your wig using the adhesive. Just slip your thumb or finger(s) under the wig near your sideburns/temples and lift up. It comes off very easy. It's fairly strong too--I've fallen asleep a few times in my wig and it never came of in my sleep and I am a restless sleeper. I've also been out on windy days and it did not blow off my head or lift off my head when I was removing a hat. It does not work well for swimming though. Also, in the summer when it is excessively hot and you sweat from under your wig, a little of the glue will mix in with the sweat coming down your forehead--but that only happens when it is really hot and you sweat a lot--it adds a bit of sticky shimmer to your sweat. LOL! But I just wipe it off with a little damp cloth or paper towel. I've been using it for years now. You can probably use it for keeping scarves and hats in place too as long as they are washable. Give it a try and see what you think. Good luck with your new wig. You will have to share a picture of it with us when you get it.
There is a glue made for lace front wigs that may help..Not sure if the name..
What kind of wig is this and do you have any hair left? When I had hair, it was more slippery but the little toupe combs did a good enough job. Once I lost all my hair, it never seemed remotely at risk of falling off unless I was in a super windy situation like on a cruise in which case I would use the blue tape (you need to have tape tabs for this). If yours is falling off in everyday living, it must be the wrong size.
Thanks for the replies everyone.

I have no hair at all, I intend to wear an off-the-shelf fibre wig. They never fit brilliantly well though I've found, not too bad at first but after several weeks the cap stretches and the elasticity goes, meaning the fit gets progressively worse. I guess its a problem for anyone who cant have one made to measure, all our heads are different.

That said in most instances its ok, the problem if its not fixed in place firmly there is always the worry of something coming along and dislodging it, even your own hand, hence the need for a good fixative solution.

I think I may have found the answer

I am going to obtain some of this and try it out.

If I'm not going to sweat excessively, I use Got2BGlued spiking gel in either the clear or the white formulas. The white dries clear eventually. It works great for holding down my full-lace wigs (which are custom fitted, so just need to be held in place), and it washes out with water. I've got really sensitive skin and a cue ball universalis head, and I've never experienced any irritation from it. I've also used It Stays with some degree of success, but find that it's sticking power is not as good as Got2BGlued spiking gel.
