I've had alopecia for a couple years now. Recently, I noticed dark spots on the side of my face and under my eyes. I checked old pictures with me with AA/AT and they weren't on my face. Even pictures with early AU. To me it kind of looks like hyperpigmentation. Could AU cause this or something similar? Is anyone else here experiencing the same thing or was? If so, how can I get the spots off my face? Is it treatable or curable and is it gonna be hard to get rid of?

Levulan is fantastic for removing red spider veins, spots etc. I had several broken capillaries, spider vein, blotchy, dry spots that constantly flaked and dark pigmentation on my cheek in almost a circle. Remember my dermatologist telling me that Levulan is not as effective at removing dark spots of people who have dark skin, but the other benefits still work.

Lasers didn't work great on me either and the results only lasted a month.

Wonder if Levulan will grow hair, like squaric acid and coal tar??? Would be a good experiment because Levulan I really irritating to you skin for awhile.

I have had a few blood test for my AU and other things and both times the results can back Healthy. My Family Doctor says im perfectly fine aside from my AU. Is it possible that Adrenal Insufficiency can go under the radar even with test? I even did thyroid  test and vitamins and all came back fine. I just have dark sections on cheeks and under eyes.

Hi I'm a trained beauty therapist. The marks on the ladies face during pregnancy was most likely a condition called chloasma. It's a pigmentation butterfly shaped mark that can appear on the face during pregnancy. It usually disappears in time after the birth. Other pigmentation marks can be caused by the condition vitiligo. This is a permanent loss of pigmentation to particular areas of the body and is classed as an auto immune disease. The condition at present cannot be cured and is more noticeable with sun exposure. Extensive information on both can be found on the internet. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I am in the same situation except I don;t have those dark spots on my face or under my eyes. I am AU since 2009 and the skin pattern changed tremendous on my hands and legs with small spots all over. The change is drastic during winter and ease off in summer time. I am applying Aveeno for babies and I must tell you that it is helping me out to certain extend. My Dermatologist or Endocrinologist does not have any answer to the problem however, I have been referred to Genetics Department and they are doing their own research. If something comes up I will let you know. Also routinely check your thyroids. And for those who are still in shock of loosing eyebrow and eyelashes accept it and go for Tattoos on eyebrow extremely painful but no other options.

Hope this helps
