I have always been curious about them. But you have to go to a select few special salons. Amy is very nice, and very helpful. SHE Will try to sell you on some other beautiful wigs she is associated with. The prices are for HOLLYWOOD types. People of average means can't afford them. I have never really gotten a firm price on the Cyberhair wigs of hers.

Hi Lexi, Noticed your post regarding Amy's wigs, and as a hair replacement professional I will say my opinion on many of these high priced wigs is that you are paying for good marketing, not necessarily a good product. The high end wig is available to most hair replacement professionals if they do their homework. While there are a few new options, if something really works in this industry, the big manufacturers pick it up really quick and make it available to us. Unfortunately, most hair replacement professional are interested in profit only and keep the price high. But if you are lucky enough to find someone that is honestly interested in helping women and has the skills necessary to cut the product in, you can get the same product for a much lower price.

Chris, in your opinion what are the best wig choices or brands? It's all so confusing to me. I really need help. I'm not ready to spend 3K on a wig yet.

Have you all seen the photo that was posted of the Gripper with the blonde hair? It was posted by Carmen West. It costs $4,000. If only money were no object!! We all could be beautiful !!!! But, no, we are all beautiful without hair.

I just searched through some of my old emails and found information again on the Matt Y wigs. His price was $1800. Why is the pricing all so different? I could even do $1800 but surely not $4,000. Wigs on the Iwig site are way less

What do you think about the I-wig. I had one person respond and say they loved her wigs. They are less expensive. So scary buying online though.

Briefly looked at I-wig, their prices are good for what seems to be offered. Many of these companies are just branding generic wigs and saying they are "creating" their own wigs. Knowing what the wholesale would be on wigs like those offered the I wig looks good to me. We all have the capability of "creating" our own line, and in my book, this company is charging a fair price.
I would recommend you at least contact them by phone and asking questions before buying online. I think you can get a better feel for their honesty and knowledge that way.

Hello Chris, We also think same to you that high priced wigs are that wearers are paying for good marketing, not necessarily for a good product.

Hi

I am always hopeful that those that help with hair solutions are reasonable, sincere people, but in some cases as with all things, you will find those with less than noble attitudes.

I don't have any personal knowledge of Amy Gibson's wig, but I'm sure there must be people here that have worn them. Do a little search and see if you can find any posts on that subject.

I understand that pricing is a very real concern for all that wear wigs, including myself and my daughter. There are many things to investigate when you are looking for a hair option for yourself. If your soul choice is based on price there are many options available that are reasonably priced as Chris has said. Most will be mass produced in China and internet based. Many find these options great.

Some of the things that will effect price are service, customisation, hair quality, workmanship of the product you choose. All these things can vary from choice to choice and all of them will effect durability and longevity of your hairpiece/wig. You also have to consider your own list of wants and needs. That is even more important in understanding what choice is going to be best for you. Write a list and work it through.

Good luck with your investigations.

Truthfully it is very confusing even to me! I have spent years investigating all options high priced and low priced, and truly feel that even a cheap synthetic can look fabulous IF it is carefully chosen. There is no way I or anyone else can say one wig is better or worse than another, I believe that in a perfect world everyone that needs hair would have a committed professional with good sense and talent to work with. Unfortunately this is not a perfect world!
I have seen some very expensive, well known names that I would not have on my head, but someone less critical would be very happy with. I have been asked this question over and over and the only way I would recommend a product to anyone is if i were able to get to know the person, see good pictures of what they have and what they wish for, and find a way to be able to teach the person all they need to know to make the wig work.
Rose Marie is right in all she said, there are many out there that will be happy with a Chinese import from Ebay, and others that need top of the line Follea or Amy Gibson. In my dealings with clients I offer all levels of products and I make no recommendations based on how much or little I may make. Last week in fact I had a client that we had decided to put extensions in. The hair was ordered and payed for, but at the last minute I had a sinking feeling that even though I could make her look good with the extensions, she would have trouble at home. We aborted, I "ate" the hair and ordered her a synthetic wig which I am sure she will love.
My only consistent recommendation is that I always talk clients into starting with something inexpensive that will look right, then upgrade if they find they can wear a wig with no issues. The psychological issues surrounding wearing hair MUST be taken into consideration. If one will never get over the wig issue, I don't want to take thousands of their dollars. I work very hard to find quality wigs that are in the $100.00-$200.00 range first. Anything less than that is usually so cheap it will fall apart or I can't make it look real. But losing $200.00 on a wig you never wear is better than losing $2000.00. I have been in this business now for many years and know that for some people nothing will make them feel beautiful unless it grows from their head. I don't want to add to the problem.
On my facebook, chrisforhair, there are some photos of me in inexpensive wigs. I, and most people that know me say they look good. I am one that likes change and has a lifestyle that can ruin a wig fast. As long as I can find companies that have good synthetics, I will likely stay with synthetic.

Hi

I have a slightly different view on expense and wigs. In my experience with my daughter I have been so fortunate to have been able to work with Freedom Wigs with regards to her alopecia. This was a life saving decision for me and my daughter when she lost her hair. The expense was worth every cent I paid and continues to be so. In New Zealand it has worked out to be a similar cost to a 'Good synthetic hairpiece' over the years she has worn them, except she has been able to have all the features and benefits a Freedom Wig brings. Freedom Wigs when looked after well will last a long time, this makes them a very economical choice.

Obviously this is not the only choice available but in my mind the difference it has made to my daughters life psychologically has been integral to her becoming a well rounded gorgeous person.

Wig wearing isn't for everyone and I very much support the choice to wear wigs-any sort, scarves, hats, be AU natural. Whatever suits your personality is ok with me. That's not to say I don't fully understand what a bad wig choice can do to someone's self image and self esteem. I deal with many people that have been stuck in a bad choice for many years before stepping out and investigating other choices, with me that would be Freedom.

When picking a wig it really has to come from your own needs and wants, then you need to work with someone that fully understand the wig you are wanting. This should be able to be done using education and knowledge to help you along with your decision.

Don't be fully put off by pricing, as it is more important to understand why the wig you may be looking at has the price it does. The things I would be very concerned about and want to fully understand is hair type....very big deal if you don't understand about hair (synthetic, human, unprocessed human hair - all very different, with different abilities to help), construction of cap and what that means to you (Net based, wefted base, handtied lace, vacuum construction-as with a Freedom Wig), longevity and durability of the hairpiece you choose. All these things need to be discussed with you keeping in mind what your particular needs are.

Good luck with everything and I hope this all helps.
